The other day I asked myself, who turned 34 this year.

How is it to be a single woman at the age of 34? This question is certainly not without cause. I did a lot of contemplation with many issues. The world of social media is abuzz and racing to be the “most successful” or “most good looking” or to be the most “up to date” in various things (make up, fashion, etc).

More and more, I find this whole social media thing very depressing. I'm the one who doesn't fit into the idea that one should always have new clothes or consume clothes often or pile up clothes when they're not needed. I'm the one who doesn't fit into the idea that to be beautiful, a woman has to appear with white and smooth skin without pores, and many others.

In the contemplation that I continued to do, at first, I reflected and looked within myself that the different ideas that I had versus society's standards were not anomalies. That, the different ideas I have are certainly not just mine to think about. Among the eight billion creatures on earth, there must be others who have similar thoughts to mine. And I met an influencer on Instagram who teaches us about being midful with the things we have, and stop being consumptive with things we don't really need. Then, I found an influencer on Instagram named Casriani.

Here, my heart was satisfied because I felt enlightened and supported. Casriani's content, whose real name is Cempaka Asriani, contains many things about being more minimalist, especially in terms of dressing.

She is a fashion editor and journalist in her field. So of course, her educational content is not without foundation. She worked in fashion for about 10 years. From her experience, she then felt uneasy with the fast fashion trend that has a detrimental impact.

However, not only about dressing, Cempaka also educates her followers not to consume too many other items, such as: shoes, watches, hats, make-up, etc.

There are many tips to make her followers aware of sustainability, such as, how if we buy items or clothes from thrifting and still pay attention to quantity. We prioritise quality and reduce quantity so that the items we own do not accumulate and spread negative energy.

That's roughly the content that Cempaka Asriani carries in her social media. And lately I've been very inspired by her. I learnt a lot from her too about being mindful as a consumer.

So that's what inspires me lately. Thank you @saffisara for the interesting question this week.

Very much agree with you, we must appreciate the things we have and stop consuming things we don't really need, thus avoiding excess consumption in a negative way, this helps us to become aware of it, thanks for sharing part of that influencer that inspires you,

I love to thrift shop. That keeps me thinking of making full use of clothing and household needs I enjoy having without spending too much out of my budget. ❤️
