Oh little verity, what do we call this again?
Wouldn't say obsession but far more of a description than curiosity.

Reading books is fine but not a dictionary. It's definite that is my words against the air.

Here she goes again, relaxed with another edition of the Oxford Dictionary. For a 10-year-old kid, Verity is sure more advanced in knowledge than most adults and it's evident the very moment she opens her mouth and speaks in that British fluent English voice.

What shall I say? Abook is a book and should be read. You never know what is hidden inside.

I knew a young lady once whose parents forced her to read the dictionary from beginning to end; recite definition of each word; then use it in a sentence. She told me that she cried and hated her parents.

By the time she finished high school, she was well on her way to a college scholarship and well versed. Only then did she thank them for their purported cruelty.

Nicely done your interpretation. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
