Christmas in Lagos with My Friend Eunice
As the holiday season sparks visions of festive gatherings with loved ones, I dream of spending Christmas cheer with my dear friend Eunice from the Hive blockchain @eunice9200. I picture the joy of welcoming her into my hometown of Lagos for days filled with adventure, laughter and friendship, I learnt that eunice stays in Abuja and we become friend through my husband who was her in the hive learners newbies initiative, ever since then we have always found one way or the other to communicate with each other.

Without having seen her because I believe that spending Christmas with eunice and my family would be a fun time , she is a very caring person as she always finds time to reach out to us and it makes me feel like we have known each other for longer period.
So after picking Eunice up from the airport with big hugs and holiday flowers, our first stop would be the sprawling Shoprite mall in bustling Ikeja. We’d take silly selfies by the decorative Christmas tree in the center courtyard, then browse the crowded market stalls admiring vibrant textiles, hand-carved figures and other artisanal wares. I can already envision us giggling while trying on our cheesiest “Merry Christmas from Lagos” souvenir t-shirts!
When hunger calls, we’d feast on suya chicken kebabs and chapman drinks from my favorite spot just outside the mall. Then we’d head back to my family’s cozy homestead to relax, switching into our matching Ankara pajamas sets that we might have planned before hand to sew and wear together with a big hair bonnet to go with it. We’d video call our friends around the world, wishing everyone holiday tidings while the aroma of bakes chicolate cookies fills in the house.
As evening falls, Eunice and I will brew mugs of black coffee before settling in to work on our latest Hive articles and engaging with other hivers on the Neoxian city discord channel, Writing by candlelight alongside my greatest crypto collaborator and comrade about topics we feel passionate about, that itself would be the perfect Christmas gift.
The day after Christmas, Eunice and I would don matching dresses that I had custom made for us. Giggling like schoolgirls, we’d journey to Lekki beach to stroll along the shore hand in hand.
The ocean breeze would tousle our braids adorned with jingle bell hair clips while festive music floats down the boardwalk. We’d snap selfies barefoot in golden sands, and relish the time together making our special holiday memories last forever, my kids would be so glad she came around as they are always find of visitors, they would be happy and would also tire her with their hundreds questions, you get how kids are right?
Wherever Eunice may spend this holiday season, I hope her days are merry and bright with meaning, community and joy in abundance. And perhaps in some future December our visions of celebrating in Lagos could magically manifest into reality at last.
Either way, her vibrant spirit will be there in heart and mind as I celebrate this Christmas.
