Kitchen Mishaps loh#207

One of my cooking disasters occurred a few weeks ago; LOL, let me not start laughing at myself before I finish writing this story.

First and foremost, hello to everyone. I hope your week is going well, and I must admit that mine has been somewhat engaging. I am nevertheless glad to be able to write here today, and I have one person to thank: @aircomm This gal has not allowed me to dwell on my teary state, but that is a story for another day.

Simply put, she has been encouraging me to see the positive side of things. I have to admit that, even if it hasn't always been easy, I have been making an effort to avoid being down; in fact, this is one of those moments when I had to be strong and assertive.

So, back to the prompt. One of my kitchen mishaps occurred a few weeks ago, Hehe. It was late one evening and I needed to prepare dinner for my children; after much deliberation, I decided to make egusi soup and semo for them; egusi is a native name for melon soup; well, the ingredients for this soup aren't difficult to find; I rushed down the street and got what I needed for the soup.

When I went home to prepare the meal, I realized halfway through that I had forgotten to grind pepper into my melon. I lowered the gas and ran down the road to grab the pepper, as this was an enormous blow to me. And because I knew I would meet people where I wanted to get the pepper, I might take my time, which is why I turned down the heat on the gas.

I actually spent about 20 minutes on this, and when I returned to the house, I noticed that someone had finished my cooking. This was strange, and I asked the kids who came in, and they said it was their father, who had finished my cooking without the pepper, and the funniest part was that it was fresh pepper rather than dried pepper that I had gone to buy.

I had to get more oil to fry the pepper before adding it to the soup, and I had to double-check everything I left in the kitchen to make sure everything went in, which wasn't funny because I still saw some soup-related items on the table. I had to start boiling these other ingredients separately so they didn't look so fresh in the soup before adding them.

That was the longest time I'd ever spent in the kitchen trying to fix my soup. This reminded me to always turn off the gas when I didn't want anyone messing with my cooking. The soup turned out well, but it wasnt satisfactory. yet, I had no alternative but to serve and eat it that way with the kids.

In a way , if i had put off the gas completely , i wouldn't have had much stress in trying to get other things to come together, so it was a lesson learnt. Don't get me wrong, the soup tasted well , but not the way i would have wanted to prepare it.

With some dishes, it just has to be right. Then Peppers it must have to be worth the extra effort.
