My Entry for Reflection Hunters Contest: Round 176 - Jamaican Lirikoi Reflections - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Big Island, Hawai'i - Sunday, July 14, 2024
Warm greetings fellow reflection Hunters! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
For my entry in round 176 of the Reflection Hunters Contest this week, I share with you some photos that I just took of the mirror reflection of a Jamaican lirikoi (lirikoi is a Hawaiian word for passion flowers/fruits) flower, Passiflora laurifolia, in my trusty portable mirror. This little mirror is a very helpful tool indeed in a place where natural reflections are rare.
I was hoping for the sun to be out when it was time to take my photos, but alas, that is not how it flowed, so these photos were taken under less-than-ideal light conditions. I played with differing angles and proximities, and while the shots that I got are not bad, they would have been so much better if the sun were shining. So I offer the best reflection photos that I could get under the conditions that I encountered today. I hope that y'all enjoy them! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

it's true, we are surrounded by a gagglefuck of nature on every side, and beauty abounds at every turn, but the photos are usually so much better when there's sun, and reflective surfaces! Since this area is so new, only porous lava underlines us, so no matter how much it rains, the water just goes straight through the lava, so we have no ponds, lakes, streams, or rivers here. You don't start seeing those until you get up around Hilo. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
