My first encounter with balloon
You see balloons? I had thought that nothing would make me enter any of them. I had a lot of apprehension about them as a child. Though they are beautiful to behold, my apprehension was rooted on the fact I had fear of heights which tended towards acrophobia. Anytime I found myself at a significant height, my heart began to fail, legs wobble, and if I didn't see any object to cling to for support, I would think I'll collapse.
I had been wondering how balloons could float in air with such ease that they can travel to far places. Our chemistry teacher had explained that balloons can float in air because they were filled with hydrogen, the lightest of all gases.
My fear of heights declined quickly with age, and I began to admire balloons, and nurse to fly in them. My dream came true one day a family friend offered the opportunity to me. He was working with Ministry of Agriculture, and as one of those that monitored the weather, he had a good chance of traveling in balloons.
On the D-day, I went to his office to meet him. As we took off in the blue and red coloured balloon, it appeared as if we were leaving the world behind. I had a feeling of going to another planet which had no problems - a peaceful and noiseless zone.
I looked down, and felt like waving a goodbye to every problem of the world. I was elated, and felt peace in my mind, being on top of the world.
The air was fresh, and breath was as life itself. There was no sign of pollution. The atmosphere was clean, to put it simple!
Even though I have entered balloons severally, that first experience appears to be something else.
After being afraid of heights, the first experience is always exciting, because you lose the fear little by little and you realize that it was not as serious as you thought. I liked the way you wrote the story. Greetings and success in the contest @ubani 🤗.
Thanks for your time.
What a luck you have to do this several times. Isn't it cold up there?
It was a sweet experience. Thanks for your time.
