As the new year started Chloe who just obtained admission into Cambridge University was ready to leave home for the very first time,Chloe grew up in Texas and has never left Texas up until now, she has never left the family wall of her father,her mother and her two brothers.
Chloe was excited about the whole new opportunity life has offered,but on the day of her departure the atmosphere was filled with mixed emotions, emotions of happiness and sadness in the sense that everyone was happy about the new height she has attained and at same time were sad that she was leaving them,since they were used to each other being around,Chloe cried so much, hugging from her mother to her father and her two brothers,and then a family hug.The Uber arrived and Chloe got into it and zoomed off in tears harbouring mixed feelings.
Chloe's first session in the University was going very well since she had everything at her disposal,she made a new friend Kayla,they hung out together often and went to class together, Chloe's tragedy began when her weekly allowance from her parents started coming in late and at a certain point was reduced,she complained but nothing could be done because her parents were facing financial challenges so they had to cut down some supplies so as to survive the hard times,each time Chloe called her parents they would always tell her to keep being patient and hopeful.
A day came Chloe was so hungry her stomach became so upset and all Chloe could do was cry in her dormitory,she cried so much that she came down with an headache, It got so bad that Chloe resulted to eating leftovers from the cafeteria after helping the cafeteria personnel serve the other students and also cleaned up after them.
Chloe got to Cambridge University on scholarship due to her outstanding academic performance,her family were of the middle class,so they didn't have much to their name, Chloe's tragedy continued as she could no longer attend classes because she came down with an illness, not even in Chloe's wildest imagination did she see herself in such situation,she locked herself indoors and all she could do was cry,she felt abandoned by her family and she considered suicide, what's life without family? She said.
Chloe's dilemma brought flashbacks of her life back in Texas,where she could never go hungry,she remembered how happy she was over there in Texas and wished she could relive those moments but life had eaten so deep into her, as she kept wallowing in her thoughts she heard a knock on the door,she cleaned her tears and opened up the door and it was Kayla her friend who came to check up on her since she hasn't been seeing her in class.
Chloe tried hidding her tears but her face was too puffy and eyes were reddish so Kayla could tell she has been crying, Kayla asked what the problem was and Chloe opened up to her,Kayla tried comforting her and they decided to go get some food.
Kayla's parents finally called and gave a beautiful news of her father bagging a huge contract and the family was more than just rich,they became wealthy and everyone was once again happy and Chloe never lacked anything again till she left Cambridge.
