LOH CONTEST #197: MY BIGGEST INSPIRATION: MY MOM

We all have our sources of inspiration. Some of us it's our parents, some it's their brother or sister, others it's someone of influence in the community or world.

For me, my source of inspiration is my mother. She inspires me to be my best self even though she is no longer here with me. When I think of her, I remember her warm smiles, she believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.

I remember when I moved from the village to the city(Lagos state), to learn English language was hard for me and people made gest of me. I would always cry home to her, she would tell me not to mind them that with time I'll learn the language.

I also remember when I started primary school, I was the oldest in my class as I didn't schooling on time. My classmates made fun of, and it affected me academically. When she saw my performance after our second term examination, she called me "Ada, whose result is this?" I told her "it's mine". She said "it's a lie, my Ada that I know can't get result this poor, what happened?". I explained to her and she said I should always ignore what people say and do my own, I listened to her advice and I came top of my class.

Even now, years after she's gone, I feel her love guiding me. When I face a challenge, I think about what she would do. Her memory pushes me to be braver, kinder, and stronger

I miss my mom so much, I miss her hugs and laughs. But I'm grateful for the lessons she taught me and the love she gave.
