Purim in Jerusalem. PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photog

Today i would like to bring my and your attention to this @photofeed contest - Portrait Photography Round 95. I love photofeed contests - Black and White, Street and Portrait are my all time favorite as well the Cityscape and sometimes even Landscape photography. Every day you can find some interesting theme for you as well.

This portrait i photographed in Jerusalem during the massive celebration of the Purim street carnival. It wasn't usual for me action, to drive after the long workday to the night Jerusalem and to immerse yourself in the celebration. I wasn't dressed up in a colorful costume and there wasn't even a mask on my face, but my camera and it was good enough to feel the connection and some kind of the festive mood.

After some time people even started asking me for a portrait - for the single portrait, with the best friend, with two best friends and a sister, with a bunch of the best friends and so on. Some of the "models" asked if these photographs are going for some online or printed newspaper, but for most of people it was a matter of indifference :-)))

Then i saw this gay walking in the middle of the Jaffa street dragging behind him a cart with a tape and a huge speakers. Of course in the speakers was heard Jamaica style Reggae and everything was absolutely cool - his colorful look, the vibes of the music, listening to which it was impossible to stop yourself from dancing and his brave marching down the middle of the road.

This moment I threw aside all embarrassment and stepping over mine comfort zone asked him for the portrait to which I received a positive response as you can see from the result.

The original image is in color, but personally i prefer the Black and White version. I never have two versions of my digital images - only one, by the decision, almost always BW. So, you only can turn on your imagination (which is quite good for training) and imagine the colors he had.

Black and white photographs have a distinct and special aura. I think it's great that people volunteer to be photographed. Nowadays we can find both groups: very introverted people, reluctant to be photographed, and the other group that is more casual and seeks to “appear” everywhere. I could almost imagine the colors of the character, but the black and white gives it a special magic. Regards

indeed about these two groups of people. but there are also these who don't look to be photographed but are ok when we ask them for a portrait. This kind is my fav to take a portrait of them

Carnival in Jesuralen!... It would never have occurred to me that they celebrate carnivals there, I had never thought about it!... Excellent portrait that one, with a stunning out-of-focus background and a face that seems to emerge from the visual frame!... And another applause for those “Tiny terrorists” in the added link!... ;) Thanks for sharing dear @victorbz friend!!
