This topic really is an interesting one and very relatable too.
So, to dive right in, I would say that one movie or movie type i love that most people don't is the K-dramas (Korean dramas) and C-dramas (Chinese dramas).
Sorry that I couldn't state one or two movies right now (*will be mentioned as you read further), but this is me being real as thinking to a list of movies I've seen, the percentage of people who doesn't like it for some reason cannot be compared to the percentage of people who doesn't like these particular movie types.
"What makes you like the movie or (movie type)
that you chose??"
"What you loved or hated about it"
Personally, I love the romance genre; it could be Romance-thriller and action, Romance-comedy, Romance-drama, and so forth... though I'm into mainly Rom-coms (Romance-comedy).
So my reason is pretty simple, as the K- and C-dramas I've seen really highlight this genre.
It talks about romance as an action or as feelings of people who are in love, especially behaviors that are very caring and affectionate. I think you know what I mean 🥲🤭...; [Fi ding time to cook a candle lit dinner irrespective of a busy schedule, buying and sending of random gifts that reminds them of you at random times... I could go on and on...]
Actions that highlight the little things that matter 😩.
Actions that don't objectify a person, and feelings that are not based off on mainly looks and appearance but character, spirit, and morals.
"Why do you think other people don't like the movie or (movie type)???"
For me, I can't actually see what's wrong with the movie type because it's me 😅🤭...
But if I were to say a thing or two, I would say it's probably about the romance genre of this movie type.
As just like the popular movie channel "Zeeworld," a lot of people criticize their romance-drama genre.
But i''ve also met a lot of people who would only watch the horror, thriller, action or any other genre that is not romance of this movie channel and I think this is also applicable to the romance genre of the K and C-dramas.
This is my opinion though as regards this, but since I really wanted to understand from their point of view, I decided to carry out a little survey on the subject and these were their thoughts on why they just don't like the Korean and Chinese movie types;
- It's not an English movie; now, they aren't being racist or anything. They actually adore Asian people. The problem is just that they don't speak English and they aren't actually good with reading subtitles.
"I often don't understand the movie sometimes because while i'm trying to read what they are saying, they'll be on a whole new page..."-Clasiquechomzy
"I'm really not good at reading fast... pausing and playing just dulls it for me"-Queeneth
In my justification, it's a "them problem 🥲😏😂"
Because I don't see anything wrong with a particular set of people acting movies in "their country" in their language. You’re a foreigner to them, and you wanting to see their movie was your choice.
Putting subtitles was just to reach a wider audience.
Most people know that countinents like Africa, Asia, e.t.c do not have English as their mothertongue and might have problems with speaking English fluently.
They acted the movie that way because it was comfortable to do so. We both know that even you can't go that out of your way to please people.
Meanwhile, I also found out that there are people who watch subtitles and understand the movie at the same time, and this was when I was streaming this C-drama "Here we meet again."
This comment was the highlight for me
"Reading subtitles and watching the movie at the same time is a superpower 🥲🤣" (can't remember the username)
- It's Unrealistic and Cliché;
"A boy has liked a girl since high school, and they meet again in their mid-20's amidst this. They have a happily ever after in the end....How can this happen in real life?"-Chikaeze
"The man is too good to be true. He does all these little things and stuff, Brooo, this doesn't feel real"- Lawrence
"Men like these ones don't exist..."-Amelia
Well, I've heard this one a lot, but what movie genre isn't?. Is your horror or fantasy any better? 🥲😌😏
Well, the world is full of opinions, and so here is mine.
A guy treating a girl right is not a bad thing.
I'mma quote this popular saying here "If He wanted to, he would"
Happy ever after does exist.
Yeah, no one is perfect, and that's fact.
When Thomas Merton said, "Love is letting those we love be perfectly themselves, and not twisting them to fit our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves. We see in them. " I felt that.
As a hopeless romantic 🥲, I will tell you that, too.
The C-drama "Here we meet again" pointed that perfectly.
I really don't know why people say it's Cliché but i think they really don't know what love is then.
Ed-Sheeran said in his song "What do I know"
"... Love can change the world in a moment, what do I know..."
So, love can also change a person. I believe that love can even make us do crazy things.
Things that you usually don't do before.
"We all changed our rules for one person..." highlight this.
"What do you think it would take for other people to like the movie or (movie genre) like you do?
I honestly don't know, but in my thoughts, I would like to think when they get a relationship or something. Or when they really like someone, would they learn to appreciate it.
Probably if they like they language too and want to learn it or if they want to learn to read quickly.
These are just my thoughts though and this was my final survey on this;
"If it starts being in English, maybe I could give it a try..."-EJD
"Not much, I dunno 😅, if they start speaking English?'-Clasiquechomzy.
Well, there you have it folks.
Thank you so much for your time.
