LOH Community Contest #158: Dear diary...goodbye Chandler 😥(En-Es)

Hi girls, I hope you are all feeling great. Today I want to participate in this week's contest, since when I was younger I used to keep a diary. I started this habit when I was in high school as a way to improve my English skills, as I tried to write everything in English and it really helped me a lot. This habit continued for several years, although less and less, mainly due to time constraints, as I had more responsibilities. Although I never gave it up completely, every now and then I make an entry, this helps me to clear my thoughts and let off some steam.

Dear Diary...

Last Saturday I was at home watching a movie with my husband. It was around 10pm and my phone started ringing. It was a call from my friend. At first I was a little surprised by his call because we mostly use texting to chat, so I was a little worried about the reason for such a call and after the third ring, I answered. It was bad news, as I feared. Someone needs to teach my friend how to soften bad news. These were his exact words he said to me:
[Shouting] " Wendy, Chandler died."
My reaction was a shouted "What!!!!????"
He then began to explain to me what he knew about it, it was very recent news, only minutes old. My eyes started to water and I couldn't utter a word. As my friend was saying goodbye to me I managed to utter a choked goodbye.

When I hung up the phone I turned to my husband and as I tried to tell him the bad news my voice broke and I began to cry. I could only tell him Matthew Perry died and I burst into tears, I just couldn't believe it. I felt like I had lost a great friend of mine and my husband gave me a big hug to comfort me, as he understands how much it means to lose this great actor from my favorite series.

Without a doubt Matthew's character, Chandler is my favorite character of all the cast and to continue watching the show knowing that he is no longer physically with us is going to be something different, but I think that is his greatest legacy, that great character that he left us, that for me and for many people is without a doubt the best comedy character in the world.

I don't know how many times I've seen the series Friends, I don't know what it is about it that I never stop watching it, every time I finish the tenth season, I find myself starting the first one again and enjoying it as if I was watching it for the first time. It's so special that I laugh at the jokes or cry at the dramatic scenes, it's that good. I feel that Friends is my safe place, many times when I feel a little depressed or my spirits are low, I just watch Friends and it's like medicine for the soul, I feel so good when I watch it.

I grew up watching that series and besides the fact that it touches on very good and important topics, what I like most about Friends is that it represents unconditional friendship, something I always wanted, a group of friends who always want to be together and are like a family. Matthew Perry's character has always been my favorite, I love how he is a genius to make us laugh, his intelligent lines and full of sarcasm, I see a lot of myself in him. But in spite of everything, Chandler is just looking for love just like everyone else and he finds it in his friend Monica, and that helps him to overcome all his fears and insecurities. The truth is that I find amazing the development that Chandler had throughout the series, he will always be my platonic love, my eternal boyfriend. Best of all, Matthew will always live on in Chandler and because of that he will never be forgotten.

Hola chicas, espero que todas se encuentren muy bien. Hoy quiero participar en el concurso de esta semana, puesto que cuando era más joven solía tener un diario. Empecé este hábito cuando estaba en el preuniversitario como una manera de mejorar mis habilidades de inglés, pues trataba de escribirlo todo en inglés y la verdad me ayudó bastante. Este hábito siguió durante varios años, aunque cada vez menos y menos, debido principalmente a la disposición del tiempo, pues tenía más responsabilidades. Aunque nunca lo dejé por completo, de vez en cuando hago una entrada, esto me ayuda a aclarar mis pensamientos y a desahogarme un poco.

Querido diario...

El sábado pasado estaba en la casa mirando una película con mi esposo. Eran alrededor de las 10 de la noche y mi teléfono empezó a sonar. Era una llamada de mi amigo. Al principio estaba un poco sorprendida por su llamada porque mayormente usamos los mensajes para chatear, así que me preocupé un poco sobre el motivo de tal llamada y después del tercer timbre, respondí. Era malas noticias, como me temía. Alguien necesita enseñarle a mi amigo como suavizar las malas noticias. Estas fueron sus palabras exactas que me dijo:
[Gritando] " Wendy, se murió Chandler"
Mi reacción fue un gritado "Qué!!!???"
Después me empezó a explicar lo que sabía de eso, eran noticias muy recientes, de solo minutos. Mis ojos empezaron a aguarse y no pude pronunciar una palabra. Mientras mi amigo se estaba despidiendo de mí logré pronunciar un ahogado adiós.

Cuando colgué el teléfono me viré para mi esposo y mientras trataba de decirle las malas noticias mi voz se rompió y empecé a llorar. Solo pude decirle Matthew Perry se murió y rompí en llanto, simplemente no podía creerlo. Sentí que había perdido un gran amigo mío y mi esposo me dio un gran abrazo para consolarme, ya que él entiende lo mucho que significa perder a este gran actor de mi serie preferida.

Sin dudas el personaje de Matthew, Chandler es mi personaje preferido de todo el elenco y seguir viendo la serie sabiendo que ya no está físicamente entre nosotros va a ser algo diferente, pero creo que ese es su legado más grande, ese gran personaje que nos dejó, que para mí y para muchas personas es sin dudas el mejor personaje de comedia del mundo.

Ya no sé cuántas veces he visto la serie Friends, no sé que tiene que nunca paro de verla, cada vez que termino la décima temporada, me encuentro de nuevo empezando la primera y disfrutándola como si la viera por primera vez. Es tan especial que vuelvo a reírme con los chistes o llorar con las escenas dramáticas, es así de buena. Yo siento que Friends es mi lugar seguro, muchas veces cuando me siento algo deprimida o con los ánimos bajos, solo me pongo a ver Friends y es como una medicina para el alma, me siento muy bien cuando la veo.

Crecí viendo esa serie y además de que toca temas muy buenos e importantes, lo que más me gusta de Friends es que representa una amistad incondicional, algo que siempre quise, un grupo de amigos que siempre quieren estar juntos y son como una familia. El personaje de Matthew Perry siempre fue mi preferido, me encanta como es un genio para hacernos reír, sus líneas inteligentes y llenas de sarcasmo, veo mucho de mi misma en él. Peor a pesar de todo, Chandler solo busca amor igual que todos y lo encuentra en su amiga Mónica, y eso lo ayuda a superar todos sus miedos e inseguridades. La verdad me parece asombroso el desarrollo que tuvo Chandler a través de la serie, él siempre será mi amor platónico, mi novio eterno. Lo mejor de todo es que Matthew siempre vivirá en Chandler y por eso nunca será olvidado.
