LOH COMMUNITY CONTEST#169- STRATEGIES AND TACTICS TO STAY WITHIN MY BUDGET.

(Edited)

Hello Hive family! I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

It's another edition for the Ladies of Hive Community Contest and here is one of the questions by @kerrislravenhill which I will be blogging about:

I annually work on my home budget every January and my recent walk through of a major shopping center reminds me how our financial goals can get undermined by the temptation to spend. What are your strategies and tactics to stay on track?

As a single lady living with my parents, the basic human needs have been provided for me by my parents,- shelter, food, water and electricity. Even with all these provided, I have my personal needs and also get some stuffs for my parents and siblings.

For electricity, we make use of prepaid meter of which my Dad and brothers take care of. Notwithstanding, I recharge it at times but when my dad finds out, he refunds me, he always says that, it's his duty or the guys would handle it. For water, there is a water supply pump that supplies water into the house.

That being written, now let's look at how I stay on track within my weekly and monthly budget.

1. I keep in mind the amount of money to spend whenever I have a couple of things to purchase. Be it my personal needs or for everyone at home, I try to stay within my budget.

2. Make my list in order of preference. In my list, I only put down what is necessarily needed in order not to place my wants over my needs. I include my personal needs and that of others, like fruits and vegetables.

3. Self-control and discipline. This is one thing I had to learn, though I see things that I desire to buy but, as long as it is not included in my list and it will exceed my budget if I purchase it, I look away and stick to my list and my budget.

4. Have a double-check. I always do this to ensure that the amount of money I intended spending remained within my budget. At times, the supermarket I usually purchase from (family supermarket), make mistake, it's either they select a product of a higher quantity (like 1kg), instead of (500g) and include the price, or they include one of the items I purchased and forget to include it in their system to add the amount it worths. Whenever I find out, I always go back to make sure they correct it and they are always grateful for it because it's not everyone who does a double-check after shopping.

With this strategies and tactics, I am always able to stay within my budget each time I have a list of items to purchase.

Hope you will adopt these strategies? If you have any other one to include please do in the comment section.

Thanks so much for spending some time on my blog.

"...but when my dad finds out, he refunds me, he always says that, it's his duty or the guys would handle it."

It's a chivalrous man thing, I like that. Keep practicing these skills and apply them to other categories as you grow more independent. Double-check? I do that all the time before I leave the store. Even in my regular Canadian store Pricing system have been inaccurate.
Thanks for your entry.

Thanks so much @kerrislravenhill

Yes, it's always good to double-check because of inaccuracy. I do check the invoice when there is no queue in the supermarket but when the queue is quite much, I do that at home. It's a store that is close by and family is their regular costumer. They always recognise their mistake and apologize for it.

Thanks for the questions for this edition.

Have a wonderful new week ❤️

Each one has his occupation and has the responsibility for household expenses. And in case of prices per quantity of the product. It is necessary to check the invoice well before leaving, here they do not accept returns or do not assume that they made a mistake. It is a bit complicated. I'm glad that you can make it double so that everyone keeps the right amount.

Yes, you're right, it's always good to check the invoice before leaving. It's a regular store close by and have a family account with them, when the queue is quite much, I just go home to do the double-check and whenever I go back with evidence, they recognise their mistake and apologise for it. The manager is also aware that some of the staff make such mistakes. The manager has complained that at times they have imbalance records and only a few of their customers take the patience to call to their notice for a correction.

Yes, not all stores over here accept returns as well, I ensure to check the invoice before leaving for a non-regular store.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your contribution to this.

Have a wonderful new week ❤️

Your dad is an amazing man, and I can see you respect from what you've written. Despite it all, every parent should always look after their offspring.

Also, having a self control when it comes to spending is necessary because with it, you know you are getting what you need, not because you have money.

Hello dearest fashionable dreemer. Happy New Day. The tunes day is here again, and it is waiting for you to full our hearts with the sound of music and also your smile. Yes, it is needed to keep the world glowing as ever. I waltzed in from #dreemport, for I am an amazing #dreemer. An awesomely made #dreemerforlife.

Hi dear! Thanks so much for your kind words.

Despite it all, every parent should always look after their offspring.

Even at that, I look forward to do more for them.

Yeah, having that discipline when it comes to money places our need over our want.

I haven't taken part in the TTT but hope to do that someday. Is there a particular music community that does this or any music community at all?

Thanks so much for coming around dear dreemer ❤️.

Do have a wonderful day.

Yeah, and so will they. Haha.

That's very right! Oh, no... there's no community for it. You can post anywhere music is accepted and also on Pob, gems, hivenaija too.

You are welcome 😁.

And you too.

Planning a budget and having the discipline to stick with it is a safe way to financial management.

The skills you listed, I'm already doing and so far things have been great.

It's impressive to see how you've incorporated financial discipline into your daily life, this is something I forget to do sometimes. And your father... maybe he's secretly a financial wizard in disguise! 😅😀

K.I.S.S. (keeping it short and simple) I love it! And that's the thing, right? We don't need to overcomplicate things. Prioritise and be disciplined. Perform due diligence to get the best prices on the market. Don't impulse buy.

My hubby and I agreed many years ago that if we wanted/needed to make a bigger purchase, we would always sleep on it! So we are never swayed by sales pitches in-store or on the doorstep. We always say... we'll think about it overnight and come back if we are still interested. It has saved us so much money from potential impulse buys that we subsequently rationalised were unnecessary or overpriced wants.

I received your post in my Dreemport curation set this evening.

Exactly, prioritization, discipline, getting best prices for the necessary things saves us a lot of money.

That's a wonderful approach you and your hubby, it's a way to keep off from unnecessary buys.

Thanks so much for your contribution to this and for visiting my blog.

Have a wonderful day ma'am.
