CCC's Street Art Contest #190 "Casa é o Mundo Inteiro" - DISH, Quinta do Mocho, Lisboa, Portugal
Good morning, friends!
Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!
Today I present to you the work of the artist DISH. Also known as João Prim, he considers contact and the experience of art for art's sake to be fundamental for the development of personal and interpersonal skills.
Teacher by profession, he teaches Visual Arts and Plastic Expression to primary school students. Always influenced by his surroundings, the son of a guitarist and boyfriend of a painter, João has had contact with the world of graffiti from an early age.
When he was 9/10 years old, he remembers visiting the basketball court he used to go to with his family on Sundays, when there were no games on, and watching the court covered in paintings. Even then, he noticed and paid attention to the tags and strokes of each artist and each work, including the shape and aesthetics, and the colors. He soon began experimenting with paper to give free rein to his imagination.
Having never had much to do with technical drawing, graffiti was the field that led him to discover his passion for drawing and painting. He remembers recognizing and remembering the works of Odeith (which I've already had the opportunity to share here with this community - post).
When he launched his initial tag, it was DIZ (which in Portuguese means "SAY"). Shortly afterwards, he replaced the Z with an S, making it DIS, but as it was a short tag, he decided to add the H, completing his current tag: DISH, which would not suffer any phonetic changes with these modifications (source).
In this particular work, we can see all his creativity, in which he uses an electricity transformer station in Bairro do Mocho as a frame. The phrase that illustrates his work inspires anyone who passes by and reads it: "Casa é o Mundo Inteiro" that means "Home is the Whole World".
Using mirrors to decorate the house rooftop, depicted with a house on his back, she takes her dreams with herself, carrying all her baggage and flourish wherever she settles. The mirrors, or fragments of mirrors, that magically appear at the mouth of the backpack in the form of a dwelling, allow our own image to be transported to what we can see painted and represented, inviting us to open our eyes to what surrounds us, becoming part of those same conjurations, and being invited to act!

Beautiful work done by this artist especially with the "mirror" bagpack. Thanks for sharing these pics and info on The StreetArt Community.
Have a wonderful day
Thank you @heroldius ! If you have the opportunity of passing by this neighborhood if you came to Lisbon, I'm so sure that you are not going to give you time has wasted. So much great works!
I need to plan a trip to Portugal, but this year it's going to be the family... and given the price of plane tickets now, we'll have to wait until 2025 🤞
I'm pretty sure that by 2025 almost all the graffitis will remain intact in the walls in Quinta do Mocho ;)
Fingers crossed!
