CCC's Street Art Contest #215 Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of "Amílcar Cabral" - 40 Anos 40 Murais, Quinta do Mocho, Portugal

Good afternoon, friends!

Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!

This week the 100th birthday of Amílcar Lopes da Costa Cabral was celebrated in the streets of Lisbon.

Although I don't know much about national or international politics, I'm not completely detached or “abstinent” from news related to politics.

What is certain and well known is that politics influences the lives of practically everyone who at least lives in urban, suburban or even rural areas.

Only those who essentially live off the grid can almost completely ignore what's going on more than 10 kilometers away.

From 1963 until 1973, when he was assassinated, this politician led the PAIGC guerrilla group in Portuguese Guinea, confronting the Portuguese government in what became one of the most effective wars on the African continent in modern times. The aim was always to obtain independence for Portuguese Guinea and Cape Verde, which until then had been Portuguese colonies.

If you want to know more about Amílcar Cabral's life and biography, you can follow this link from Wikipedia.

This work was part of a project called “40 Years 40 Murals” in celebration of the 40th anniversary of April 25, 1974 - a very important date for the establishment of democracy in Portugal.

If you want, you can check out these links (2) here to find out more about this cultural movement.

I hope you enjoyed this week's post, marked by this important event in the history of two African countries, Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde.

Thank you for the approval seal Heroldius! This was a luck coincidence. I already had the photographic material, and on the weekend, when I was walking in Lisbon, I saw the public manifestation related to the 100º anniversary of Amílcar Cabral!
Enjoy your week!
Cheers!
