Boogeyman - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 273!
Hello there!!
The last weekend of the year is already coming to an end! I have just completed my last participation for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 273 for this year.
I'm not sure if this will be my last drawing of the year, but if it is, thanks to everyone who always supports my work and gifts me with their votes and lovely comments. I hope this new year is better for all of you and, above all, for me. This 2023 has been...
This is my version of the Boogeyman that I selected for this last week. I made some small changes, but it was because I wanted to emphasize the pure essence of evil in the character, more representative of the confirming malevolent aura. Also, a bit darker but with a touch of bizarre that attracts me a lot.

RARE Death Unit
Little do the living of the Splinterlands know that Dark Energy is produced by fear, as well as destruction and death. Many Dark Eternal forms have been crafted not only for battle utility, but also to evoke fear from the living. The Boogeyman is an extremely specialized agent of fear. Boogeymen spend their time traveling through the living realms of the Splinterlands spreading danger and fright. The most skilled Boogeymen always go after children, for the fear of a child is the purest fear available.
I started this drawing with a blotch to which I gave shape, somewhat resembling what I was looking for. Although it might have seemed somewhat human, it wasn't what I wanted. Perhaps a humanoid creature, is better.
I detailed the body a bit more, this character exudes malevolent energy. I wanted to incorporate that, but I also aimed for a hint of humanity💀☠, although somewhat lost at this point—just a few features—so there would be some semblance of skin.
The canvas was smaller when I added the shadow, so it looks somewhat truncated, but it will improve, I think.

The next thing I worked on were the eyes; in fact, the character had quite a few eyes. Something I wanted to achieve with this malevolent creature is that it was more than just energy, so I chose to give it a somewhat twisted pose and add some more bizarre details, if I can say it that way, to make its appearance more repulsive. Well, it's not that much, to be honest. I would have liked to create more repulsion in this; the character allows for that and more.
There was something I did purely by chance, and it was with the eyes in this step... they seemed to be bulging, on the verge of exploding. I wanted to do something else with the "Liquify" tool in Photoshop, but in doing so, what I mentioned before happened, and I liked how it turned out, so I left it like that.
At this point, although it doesn't seem like I did much, the truth is that I made some changes, such as in the background, and I also played a bit more with the shadows on the body. I wanted to make the malevolent energy of the character a bit more predominant, and at this stage, I exaggerated it a bit more than in the previous steps.
To add a bit more depth to the background, what I did was lighten the colors a bit, and it also helped to give more prominence to the character by making it stand out a bit more. I also added more malevolent shadows, and the ones already on the body, I worked on them better to give that sensation that they were emanating from the entire body.
And to finish, some shine and light to the eyes, as well as completing the rendering of the character's body. As you can see, I chose not to add the layer that the original character has. Instead, I preferred to give more prominence to the darkness of the character, making the rags appear as the same malevolent shadows that envelop him and thus giving a more evil touch to the character. Well, I hope you like the version I made of this incredible character that I had in my deck of cards for a long time, but due to life circumstances, I sold it.😣😥
