Lord Thanalor - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 275
Greetings Hive community!!
I have just completed my participation for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 275. I've been thinking about my drawing style and some things I don't usually do. This time, I decided to try something new and experiment with another style that I also like. I chose this character because while I was selecting it, it felt like it fit perfectly with what I wanted.
I also wanted to create a more open environment, not too detailed but with a background extending beyond a simple wall to add more depth to the drawing. This man seemed perfect for the occasion.
I also made a video of this drawing. I definitely have to finish all the videos, but there are so many that it will take some time. This one is in the queue, and I left some images.
I don't have much information about the character because I think the page is still not updated. It's not an internet issue; there simply isn't any lore for this guy. I left a small description:
and since there aren't many cards of him, that's good to prevent the price from being too low. I think that's about it.
I started with a simple sketch to which I added values with grayscale, including the background and the character.
I used the same brush as the previous base and gradually added the color taken from the reference of the original character but adapted to mine. I also decided to create a larger background, something I rarely do, but it's good to experiment.
In this step, I focused on the character's face and some details of the armor. There were many things to do, so I had to focus on other areas.
I used the same chalk-type brush I've been using lately. I improved some details in the background and the character. Although the brush leaves irregular strokes, that was fine, and with a small size, I could handle it.
In this drawing, I wanted fewer details, a more rustic and wild look. Although sometimes the combination of both styles in one piece is quite pleasing.
Up to this point, I improved several things, like the face, as I usually leave it for last. I worked on everything simultaneously instead of focusing on one thing, and that worked well.
To finish this drawing, I adjusted some colors, added some missing elements like the character's staff, some light, and it was ready.
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.
