At that time when I saw my rice plants and at that time the weather was very supportive, there were many dragonflies flying here and there, sometimes the dragonflies like to perch on the branches, one of which is the tokiyik dragonfly that lives in the rice fields. This photo of the tokiyik dragonfly is my contribution to the PhotoFeed Contest - Macro Photography Round 94 organized by @Photofeed.


According to me, I read several articles and summarized them in this post. Tokiyik dragonflies play a role as natural predators for small insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and aphids that can be pests for rice plants. By eating these pests, dragonflies help reduce the use of pesticides that can damage the environment and health. In addition, tokiyik dragonflies also function as indicators of environmental quality, because they are very sensitive to changes in air quality. If the tokiyik dragonfly population decreases, this could be a sign of pollution.

The beauty and uniqueness of tokiyik dragonflies, with bright body colors and transparent wings, also add to the natural appeal of rice fields. Their presence in the middle of rice fields is not only as a natural predator, but also an important part of the biodiversity that supports life.
