ENGLISH] [ESP/ENG]. Emigration and me: my personal experience. Contest #195

Hello to all the warrior women who make life in our community. First of all I send you a hug and my good wishes that you are in good health.

I have decided to participate in this initiative because emigration has been my ally and companion in these 15 months of my life.

Many people in the world emigrate, it is a truth as big as the blue of the sea.

I recognize that I never imagined that I would emigrate from my country, but, looking for a better future, helping my family and fulfilling life projects became the causes that made me leave my beloved Cuba.

But, contrary to what you may think, economic improvement is not the only reason why someone decides to emigrate and now I will explain my experience.

When I left Cuba I did it for the reasons explained above. Some of my husband's and my friends had left before and were settled in Uruguay, a country where they had the best living conditions, stable work, income, health care and welfare.

When this situation was explained to us, we decided that this would be our destination and that, in the South American country, we would try to fulfill our dreams.

We lived in Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital, for one year. Everything in our lives was going very well because we were able to help our families, we enjoyed the country and we started to fulfill our life projects. You may wonder why we decided to emigrate.

The answer lies in the climate and its impact on my health, especially the cold weather at various times of the year.

After several proposals we decided that we had to go to live in a country with a warm climate and economic conditions similar or better than those we had in Uruguay.

Now, we are in Mexico, a closer country and with climatic conditions similar to those we have in Cuba and to which my health is better adapted.

As you can see, emigration has many causes and this is one of them.

This is my current experience and I want to say that I consider it normal for people to want to emigrate in search of better living conditions. It is true that the ideal is to live in your country of origin, but, if for various reasons you find it impossible to fulfill your life goals, there is no other choice but to emigrate.

This is so true.
The one reason I think that most people emigrate is for better living conditions. If anyone can afford to do so, I think that they should. Everyone deserves a good life, be it at home or abroad.

That's true and that's why I made that decision. It is hard, but it is necessary. Thank you for your response.
