Nonso's Knuckles

Sixteen years of punching trees and sand bags, Nonso got his knuckles blunt and solid. He punched everything that stood on his way.
He punched like someone who had boxed for 35 years for the government.

Nonso was born homeless and seeks to build a home for his mother. His problems was not just a home, but food, security, and many other minor problems.
He worked for several small and medium enterprises to earn a living, but none paid him well.

He continued to seek for legitimate ways to get away from poverty captivity, but never found any. Along the line, he loss his dearest mother at the age of 27.
Her mother's death messed with his head severely, leading to his inability to concentrate on anything that fetches money for him.

Nonso punched everything and everywhere he sees an obstacle. He punching and grabbing effects grew from strength to strength. He was able to punch severally without feeling any pain. He even went further to register for a charity bout at the village motherless homes' inauguration.
He continued to fight for free in order to get noticed by anyone looking for who to sponsor.
Life continued to be though on him until his destiny helper located him.

Mr James is an investor who invests in people with special abilities and skills which Nonso appeared to be among those that he's willing to sponsor.
Mr James located Nonso in one of his free fights, but refused to officially invite him for a brief discussion. He specifically observed the young and talented boy to see if he would be committed to flourish if funded.

While the fight was going on, Mr James placed a higher bet for Nonso's opponent to win. He also gave words of encouragement to his bet.
Nonso felt very bad about it. He had nobody cheering him up. He was just alone doing his first paid fight. That alone encouraged him to win at all cost.
He punched for nothing in return. Afterall, he has nothing to lose if he wins or loses the fight.

At the fifth round, Nonso knocked out his opponent with a direct face punch.
This got him so happy and full of celebration. He jumped up so high and showed no respect to his competitors.
Mr James on the other hand felt so embarrassed with the game's outcome. He couldn't hold his expression.
He rushed to Nonso to congratulate him, even when he loss his bet.

Mr James did the needful by inviting to fight in a ring.
Nonso felt so surprised and happy. He had dreamt of fighting in a ring all the time. He even paid promoters to feature him in a fight, but got scammed.
He gladly accepted the offer and promised to win, no matter who's to be competed with.

The fight was against Michael, the belt defender who has held it for straight 4 years. No one has been able to endure Michael's punches because they were too heavy.

Before the fight, Nonso was given two months to prepare. His bills were fully paid by Mr James company. He was well taken care of since he's to fight a defending champion.
Life became more easier for Nonso as he's being pampered.

The deal day came and Nonso was presented to the crowd along with Michael, the defending champion.
The fight was also hyped as Michael's 5th local champion title. His pride was so high and more hopes were on him.

Nonso was accompanied into the ring for the first time. He received big hugs from rich people and warmth kisses from beautiful ladies. For him, all his aspirations were all achieved.

The game began, the first round and Nonso was getting every punch on his face. He couldn't avoid any of Michael's punches because he's not a professional.
After some minutes of punishment by Michael, the round was over.

Nonso got some few good words from Mr James along with other good people around him. His heart were filled with hopes and promises from almost all his fans.

The second round began and things were getting more worse for him.
Michael continued to pound him like his junior brother. The punches were too heavy to endure. He has never been punished like this before.
He managed to walk through the second round, but was actually bleeding from everywhere the punches visited.

Third round came and Michael happily knocked Nonso out of his misery.
Nonso landed on the center on the ring like a piece of paper. His gut got cut.
He cried painfully as he was announced as Michael's new victory.

As Nonso was sobering, he got another invitation to train with other champions at Champions Arena. This invitation was given to him by Mr James's sponsor who also needed a committed and respectful boxer to train.
He felt between happiness and sadness. His mode was confusing. He couldn't identify the best mode to be at, but smiled saying,

Though I failed today, tomorrow is another day

Truly, tomorrow is another day.
