#BeerSaturday -
It is week 379 for #beersaturday so I should probably take you on a brewery tour!
As we all know, being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.
This week, we visit Sparrow Brewing in Cambridge Ontario in Canada for some pints!
The Pint of the Week is a foamy highlight in Beerology! What we do is hit the town and enjoy a social pint, which is probably the best way to enjoy a beer. This week, it was enjoyed at this bar which is located at Four Fathers Brewing I never was too impressed by the Fourfathers beer I found at the store. On tap, at the brewery is a much different situation. Delicious hazy New England IPA toasted the proper way: tops in.
Sparrow Brewing (& Roasting)
I had never even heard of Sparrow Brewing/Roasting before we made this trip. We even almost reconsidered going, wondering whether or not we were heading to a coffee/tea place. Good thing we looked a little deeper and decided to visit.
The place was not much to look at architecturally in a small industrial building on the edge of town. Neat branding on the walls and a good amount of people knocking off at the picnic tables early on a warm Friday afternoon. Wonderful time for a pint!
A rather plain but authentic and unpretentious indoor seating area with the basics you would need to enjoy a flight.
You know they have used every square inch of this place when you might back into a fermenter or a bright tank after pouring a pint. They must have to transfer and keg on off pub hours.
Can I start you with a flight?
I am probably not alone in believing the best way to get introduced to a brewery is to enjoy a flight of different, fresh draft beer. For those who don't know, that is a sample serving of a few beers they have on tap, preferably of different styles.
Legions of followers of The Blockchain #Beerologist might look at this list and know I am going to indulge when there are 4 different IPAs available! Damn straight. After having the Lucky Day and Lost Legend, weighing in at 6.5% ABV, I found the Mission IPA a little underwhelming, but really enjoyed the aptly-named Fine & Dandy IPA at 6.2. Truth be told, they were all enjoyable but none really stood out.
The Bottle Shop
As nice as it was to find that they not only had a nice IPA game and a selection of them on tap, there were some in the fridge for take away as well. Neat design and it almost made me want to look in on what kind of coffee they offer.
Instead, I opted for a little lager, pilsner and oat stout for a change. Some are still in my fridge, others donated to our master brewer who enjoys his stouts, and the rest in the BEER folder waiting to be highlighted on a future #beersaturday post.
What a pleasant surprise to discover Sparrow Brewing/Roasting
#BEERSaturday!
I have work, stress and finances to ignore so I might as well #beersaturday instead!
Join me, @detlev , and the other beerologists because there is always room for more beer bloggers at this week's Beer Saturday gathering... https://hive.blog/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-379
The view is quite nice and the location is also quite nice.
Yes it was a little out of the way and a neat little almost secret location. Glad we discovered it and the beer was solid.
Yes friend, have a nice day.
Oh yes, we call that a sampling plate here :) The way to go, especially when your beers come in tiny little mugs, looking more like toys :)
Ya! Plus, if you got a half or full pint of each to sample, it might make for a long drink affair!
Or a double-pint, Oktoberfest style :))
From the sparrow brewery, the beer is sparkling and fresh, it appears that their beer performed very well.
Sparrow Brewing is beerologist approved because the flavour and the texture must have been to your liking. 😁
Sparrow look pretty cool. I have not heard of them but I feel like I'd be at home with their beers.
Yah man they seem to be a secret in the area but have a solid game in plenty of styles. A flight would net you a winner I am sure and the place is neat.
