#BeerSaturday - Lighter Beers for Spring!
Where were you 362 weeks ago? I might have been participating in the first ever #beersaturday on a different blockchain before the fork but I have had too many beers since then to remember.
Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.
This week, I am sampling beer besides IPA for a change as most of my peeps prefer something less hoppy.
Pint 'O the Week!
The PotW is a fan favourite because it is usually a beer enjoyed on the town in a social or business setting that we don't get to visit all the time. This week, we are working again with the best Indian restaurant in town Raja Fine Indian Cuisine and I enjoyed a nice international pint the other day!
We are working on a happy hour promotion for the patio and including a bucket of international beers for $25 CDN. These are really simple watery beers but prefect when they are a reasonable price and paired with delicious Indian snacks on a summer evening. More to come on this PotW!
Rose Cider - Not BEER!
A beer that burst onto my radar and even coveted top 10 came from a neat regional craft brewery Cowbell Brewing A really neat place to visit, recently changed ownership and we had a chance to score a free sampler pack from a private party attended a couple weeks ago. It included some of the old favourites and some new ones making waves.
I will have to admit I poured this Rose Cider for my better half. Not as frothy as I would prefer in a beer but I used a nice fat glass to showcase any floral aroma and the clarity that comes with a cider. I did take a sip off the top of this one before I delivered it and it was sweet and crisp. So much better than the dry, acidic and nasty Strongbow that seems to be so universally popular. Tasty!
ZAP! - Pink Lemonade Sour
Next up is one of the old skool craft breweries I have loved since craft beer replaced micro brewery as far as the classification goes. Nickelbrook Brewing is as good as it gets for IPA in my book, but have really nice game in quite a few beer styles. This one also falls into the category of "Beer I Poured for my better half."
My better half enjoys "Beer-flavoured beer" and a couple of the mild fruity beers. Zap Pink Lemonade Sour definitely falls into the sweet/sour spot that would either be a hit or a miss for her. Reading a little more into the beer online mentions that it is a variation of their sour IPA which might not be a fit but it is the only mild beer in a variety pack she might like. Turns out she did and Zap! was a hit. A little sniff off the top of this one made me want to have one for myself and I will pick this off the shelf next time I visit.
#BEERSaturday!
Makes sense but will probably not go well! Join me, @detlev , and the other beerologists because there is always room for more beer bloggers at this week's Beer Saturday gathering... https://hive.blog/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-362
This week for #BeerSaturday, I am inviting @mauromar who is from beer mecca Spain and started blogging back in 2017 like me! Take a few pictures, tag #beersaturday and raise a glass with us on Hive!
Cheers to our global family of beer-drinkers!!

Reading it, concluded me that you've collected thousands of beer bottles and cans already. 😁
Collecting them would probably end up in getting kicked out of the house!
Though i do wnd up with a rainbow by the time i bring back a load of empties.
Hahaha, I see. 😁😁
I'm imagining your wife as she look at the display.😁
It has been so hot here lately, need such cold beers everyday 😄
It has cooled here the last week with the temperature not making it to 20 Celsius. Cold beers seem to work just as well with that too!
I spotted something scary in your beer post! Hope you kept safe distance from this ugly guy :)
Oh ya worry not my friend. The kingfisher in the first one was mine only because they offered me a beer while visiting for a business meeting. The bucket is a promo shot to promote their patio evening special and I won't have anything to do with most of those!
What a relief! ;)
I’ve seen you post up so many beers. Looks like it’s one thing that is really common to you all over there
Only us #beerologist s!
Epic epic epic.... Loving this one man..That rose cider looks very refreshing. It's great to try new flavors, especially in warmer weather 😁. Cheers mate this is a great one. !BEER
Fear not I balance them out with the heavy hoppy IPAs but a light one like these or a radler on a warm weekend while working has its place too!
Perfect bro.. you're definitely a pro at this 🤣🤣🤣 🫡🫡🫡 #respect man
I like that can design on the Zap beer. You make it sound pretty good too. I haven't had a sour beer that I've liked yet but might give that one a try if I see it.
My wife likes stout beers generally
I am not sure whether sour beers are getting better or my palate is evolving. It was not bad and I can have a sour a night and enjoy it. Any more than that and it is too much or started to get too acidy.
In the right setting or maybe after drinking a bunch of bitter beers I would probably like the change of one to re-set my taste buds
What ever they want!
