#BeerSaturday - Mix 6 IPA Pack!
358 weeks of #beersaturday. Let that sink in! Quite a long time to be celebrating beer, especially when you consider it has been on the blockchain all that time.
Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.
This week, I am diving into a mix 6 pack of IPAs from one of the region's best craft breweries.
Shorty of the Week
Today's Shorty of the Week is a guest submission from overseas! My brewing partner is vacationing in Japan right now and sent a shot of him enjoying a Nikoketsu Reminds me of my trip to Osaka and the beer adventure I went on back then. The label is funny and someone said that beer must be the "Cat's Ass!"
Collective Arts Mix 6!
I have been a big fan of [Collective Arts Brewing]](https://collectiveartsontario.com/) for longer than I have been the Blockchain #Beerologist. Pioneers of the modern hazy and hoppy IPA movement in the region. A numbered IPA series that must have explored every possible IPA style, and even created a few. Some of the best core beers around and a support of the arts that is so core to their vision, it is in their name.
When I saw the Mix 6 variety pack on the shelf, the brewery logo caught my attention. I figured it probably was filled with lagers and sours but would check anyhow. All IPAs? Right on! Short cans? I need some of those. A couple old favourites, not bad. A new IPA I had not sampled yet? Alright you have a deal. Too many things going for it.
Ransack the Universe
I have enjoyed Ransack the Universe for years. If this mix 6 had lagers and goses in it, I would have passed and just picked the 500ml pint can off the shelf. Possibly one of my top-10 for being so yummy and available year around. Mosaic and Galaxy hops seem to be in all of my absolute faves but this one seems drier and meaner to me as West Coast IPA should be. The art on features on the can is Woman in Colour from a Toronto artist @lostcolony. Should share his work on Hive!
Life in the Clouds
Life in the Clouds is definitely in my top 10 IPAs and has been for a long while. With so many amazing beers on the shelf, and so many new beers to discover and share on #beersaturday, it is tough for these old favourites to get into my fridge regularly. This one makes it quite often as it is always available, always good and fills the hole when there is nothing new and thrilling.
Those quintessential Mosaic hops are paired with Simcoe this time for an even drier and more bitter taste than the usual tropical or NEIPA style I enjoy. Again, I would have picked up the pint cans but paired with Ransack and being a shorty for a change, it was a great option for the fridge.
Now that I look at it, the 2 cans in the pack are from different artists. I can't seem to find the first one thought it is there on the website without an artist credit.
The featured label artist on the one is James Carey from Huntington Beach California.
Lost City Vic Secret NEIPA
This is the beer that made me want to buy this mix 6 pack. I had never heard of Lost City and was not sure what a Vic Secret NEIPA even was. It is so exclusive, I can't even find it on the website and the only mention besides a fat guy on youtube was an empty beer advocate page https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32763/696652/ This IS new!
The Vic Secret hops which are known to for the uncommon combination of pineapple tropical fruit as well as pine and spice. It is accompanied secretly by Mosaic and citra which are a couple of my preferred hops so this beer could do no wrong. Turns out it was a nice unique but seriously bold and well rounded beer. bitter and tropical at once.
The artist on the label is Il Tela from Milano Italy and is proving as tough to find. If this is indeed the artist on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/iltela/ I recommend he gets himself a Hive blog for better content ownership and monetization and presence.
Fantastic mix 6 from a fabulous regional craft brewery!
#BEERSaturday!
Hah! Get it? I want 5 beers now. Join me, @detlev , and the other beerologists because there is always room for more beer bloggers at this week's Beer Saturday gathering... https://hive.blog/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-358
This week for #BeerSaturday, I am inviting @wiseagent is presently tasting beers around Europe! Take a few pictures, tag #beersaturday and raise a glass with us on Hive!
Wow, a great set of cans and I’m sure that beers inside were top! It’s great that the same beer has two labels from two artists.
I also remember back in the days going to Japan, beer hunting and finding awesome beers. I want to go again soon! 😝
Cheers!
Me too. Then I think of all the other places I would love to visit first before I go revisiting. If Hive would just reach $50 or so, I could go do that!
Oh, $50 Hive would definitely do miracles! 😁 The dreams are free!
nice temporary pleasure that the liver and kidneys regret
Collective Arts seems to do a lot of IPA style of beers so I can see why you like them. A lot of people really like their beers from what I hear. I really want to like them but I haven't found a beer that I really liked by them yet - probably just because I haven't come across a Stout or Golden ale or a style that I prefer yet. I'll keep searching.
Enjoy drinking.😊
The art work on those cans is bad ass..
I love the artworks on those cans
Amazing!
Drink up!
Looks like a mix I would enjoy.

If it's a week, every two days are very special. This is exactly how one should have fun with friends.
Haha! Japanese art is on another level. I mean what is it trying to suggest? Certainly is a curious design.
Maybe the Japanese are running out of brand ideas and going for the internet classic of funny cats!
