LOH #210 - Earliest Christmas
I don't want to sound like the fictional character Grinch from Dr. Seuss's classic children's book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!". But I've never had to decorate for Christmas ever since I left my parent's house to stay alone.
All I can remember is my Dad playing Christmas songs every morning from the first of December to spice up the mood for Christmas. Then he decorated the house with tiny Christmas lights. I remember, as a kid, helping him hang a few lights over the Television and Stereo set.
He had me up on his shoulders because his hands couldn't get to the exact point he wanted. Then he directs me on where to place it. It was usually fun for me; another means I got to bond with my dad.
Then when it gets to the fifteenth of the month, we go shopping with our mum for new clothes and shoes for Christmas. But we don't get to wear them until Christmas day. Mum also makes sure to stock up the house with foodstuffs.
In my part of the world, it's a culture to spend Christmas in your hometown with your grannies and other extended family. So, by the twentieth day or, at most, the twenty-second day of December, we will then travel home to celebrate with our families on the big day, which is the twenty-fifth of December.
You know, I never really thought of decorating my house for Christmas before until now I got to see this prompt. So I'm thinking, maybe a new Christmas style this year with a little decoration in my home before I travel to celebrate Christmas with my family.
Oh, how this prompt is giving me nostalgia.
