Qurator's Photo Quest Competition! Storm in Gijon!

Hello everybody,

A couple of months ago I came across the city of Gijon in the north of Spain. I took my bike of that van and went out for a little tour. But I parked my van next to some buildings and trees so I didn't felt the wind that blew from the sea. As soon as I drove up to the coast line I couldn't drive my bike any more. I needed to walk.

From the boulevard you have a nice view over the beach and look all the way to the other side. Storm clouds are above the sea and city.

The waves are already pretty high.

And on the boulevard were two woman walking. I couldn't resist taking pictures of them. Their hair was going every where.

On the right parts of the old town, in the back the mountains of Asturias and on the right part of the boulevard and the new apartments blocks.

Birdies don't have to do any thing. they let the wind blow over their wings and they stay in the air by themselves. The massive dark clouds in the background make a nice contrast with those white seagulls

There is a coal transshipment port on the other side of the city. That is a lot of coal dust flying around there.

Coal ash is one of the major sources of air pollution in the world. It can lead to fly ash.
