ALONE~~~Show Me A Photo Contest Round 159

Greetings bird lovers.

Here I am settling in after our Florida vacation. We stayed this year in New Smyrna Beach on the east coast. We are west coast lovers, but since the hurricane had a direct hit on the Fort Myers area, we still don't want to take a chance. My best friend lives in Sarasota, which is on the west coast just an hour away from Fort Myers.

Turns out, the house we rented was perfect, with just
steps to the beach and great restaurants, we were thrilled with our location.

But mother nature must have been pissed at something or someone, (hope it wasn't me, ugh) because the weather was awful most days.

But on the dry days, even though it was cold, @thebigsweed and I got out and strolled through some excellent parks with some grand wildlife.

We watched this pileated woodpecker go at this tree like crazy. The knocking sound was amazing in the forest.

This second picture is my entry in the #smap contest, round 159.

What a beautiful bird, awesome color combo, love his red cap.

His long claws and big pointed beak made him very interesting to watch and photograph. It was a wonderful park with nice trails and of course, our lovely #featheredfriends.

Wow! The beach, warm weather and a beautiful feathery red head. You can't ask for any more than that.😊

Long time indeed, I missed your entries. ❤
Thank you very, very much for your lovely post and beautiful photos. The woodpeckers are amazing how hard they can work and watching them in action is awesome.

Just a reminder to add you link. 🙂

Oh what a handsome woodpecker!😀 What an elegant hat! We live with similar woodpeckers, completely black and with a cap without a crest.
