Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 132
How many times have we been caught without our camera when we see something out of the ordinary in the bird world? Well, not this time. Here is a sight I haven't seen too often, one bird feeding another, unless it's the parents feeding their hatchlings.
I think these two birds are young Rose Breasted Grosbeaks. Are they brother and sister or are they of the same sex, kind of hard to tell with them being so young.
On this particular day, the theme must have been Let's SHARE A MEAL. These Downy Woodpeckers seem to be a little older than the last pair and it's easier to see that they are both males. Are they brothers or just good friends?
On this particular day, I think that every woodpecker in the neighborhood flew in for a snack, including these two male grosbeaks
The activity at the feeder was nonstop. It's not too often that so many birds feed at the same time.
Here we have two feeding while two patiently wait for their turn at the feeder.
Five in all, three munching away and two others looking on.
One feeding, one waiting his turn, and one making a landing on the roof of the feeder.
At this rate, I'll need to put a couple of new blocks of suet in the feeder by the morning.
With all of the activity on this particular day, I sat watching for an hour or more until I decided it was time to get something done besides #birdwatching.
A big thanks to @nelinoeva, @melinda010100, and @barbara-orenya for keeping an eye out for all of us bird lovers
Oh my god, how busy your feeders are! This must be birds favourite restaurant. 😉😀
It is amazing how long the parents feed their chicks, even though they look adult and still begging. Great shots, my friend! So entertaining to watch them feeding or waiting for their turn.
Thanks, that particular day the number of birds showing up at the feeder was like no other day. Loads of fun just siting back and watching all of the activity.
Oh boy very busy feeder with amazing variety of visitors. Always so cute watching them feed each other show how family orientated they are.

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoIt was a busy day at the feeder. the only woodpecker that didn't show up that day was the Red-bellied woodpecker which visites all of the time.
I couldn't ever understand why this bird was named Red-bellied woodpecker when his belly is totally white and its head is red.
Gorgeous bird, slight pink toward the bottom !LOLZ

For sure and larger than most of the other woodpeckers.
That's great
How do you even know if they are brothers and sisters?
Hmm
That's a great knowledge
I really don't know it just a guess. I figured that they had to be related to be behaving so friendly.
They are so pretty, love the markings of all of them!
Their markings are really cool. When the fly away from the feeder, which is almost impossible to get a picture of, their markings are even more spectacular.
I love how our feeders get the same traffic!
I haven't seen any grosbeaks in a while, are yours still around?
It's funny you mention that. These pictures were taken several weeks ago, but over the past week or so we have not seen the grosbeak at all.
I took a look at their migration routine and learned that by the end of August beginning of September the birds begin their southward fall migration.
I guess that explains why they have not been around lately.
Life is incomplete without love the way we see it is also loving each other and every living breathing thing loves each other.
So true my friend.
Wonderful photos! I love the photo of a parent feeding a child. And the feeder is just lovely, both beautiful and functional, very comfortable for the birds.
Thanks, on that particular day the activity was out of control. I had a hard time getting my butt off of the porch that day, afraid I would miss something.
