Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 169
BIRD ART, when I first saw the topic for this week's #SMaP the first thing I thought of was the wooden duck that hangs on the column on our front porch. When I completed the construction of the main section of our home 40 years ago, Robin's Aunt Barbara gave us this homemade gift. Aunt Barbara lived up the street from us, and her hubby, Robin's Uncle Louie was the gentleman who turned us onto the property, our farm. They have both passed away now and this simple replica is a reminder of how special they both were. If not for them we would be farm less. I wonder how different our lives would be if it were not for those beautiful people.
WELCOME to the FARM
Now this guy has been around for a while. When we first started gardening while living in New Jersey the owl was placed in the garden to keep away any predators. When we moved to Upstate New York I decided to fasten him to the mailbox stand. The owl now guards our mail. The last thing I want is for anyone to steal all of the bills that arrive every month. 😁
I'm not sure how old these Turkey salt and pepper shakers are, but as a kid, I can remember my Mom putting them out every Thanksgiving and immediately storing them away until the following Thanksgiving.
This owl windchime has also been around for years. Robin's Mom had it hanging on her front porch for as long as I can remember.
Little joys in life that bring memories flooding back, sharing the history about them to the children in hope one day they too enjoy them as much. Life's treasures!
So often it's the littlest trigger that brings back a fond memory or sometimes a memory that we would rather not recall. A big reason why I do what do here on #hive is to record events that I hope generations to come will read and remind them of the good times we had.
We all build, then leave some good memories behind for others to enjoy, stacking and stashing till we forget what we have !LOLZ

Aww
The wooden ducks look very beautiful
Love the pictures!
Robin's Aunt Barbara was a talented artist and we have a few special pieces of hers around our home. Love them all.
So many wonderful pieces, but the salt and pepper turkeys are so funny! :))
Funny yes and priceless like other little items that have been passed on.
What pleasant memories. These things are really very beautiful.
Pleasant memories are cherished and I've been fortunate to have many more good ones than bad.

Always nice when you folks stop by letting me know where I stand.
You're welcome @thebigsweed. Looking forward to you reaching your new target 😅
There are so many ways to decorate our homes and gardens inspired by birds that I am more and more impressed to see such beautiful things. @thebigsweed
Until I joined the #featheredfriends community I must admit that I didn't take a real interest in these flying marvels. Birdwatching is now a passion that continues to grow.
Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you for your support, not only for myself but for the other authors who love this space.
@brumest thank you for taking some time out of your day to curate my post, always greatly appreciated.
All these objects are priceless, because of the memories they bring. The salt and pepper shakers looked like new, I can imagine how much your mom treasured them.
Such a lovely post and entry. 🙂
I can remember Thanksgiving dinner at home with my parents. Mom would cook all day, we'd have a feast and we kids were always responsible for cleaning up and doing the dishes. The only thing my mom would do after dinner was put the turkey salt and pepper shakers away, immediately.
Mom took special care of those things. I'm surprised she didn't go around the table asking us if we needed any salt or pepper on anything and applying it herself. 😁
Awww! So beautiful mementos!🥰❤️
This forty year old duck never doesn't look like he is already 4 decades old. Still looking so dashing and gail.
With those wide eyes ever so watchful, I think no one would dare open your mail box!😄😄
We really are ever so grateful for our loving, kind, supportive families who have gone beyond us for they paved the way on who we are now. Thanks to your uncle and aunt you now have a vast estate harvesting gold, reaping seeds of hardwork and love.
If it were not for Robin's uncle Lou we would not have bought our property.
Uncle Lou died on my birthday, very strange.
