Unfulfilled ....QC prompt #134.

Having a goal gives us what to look forward to as we journey through life. Irrespective of the duration of the goal we have in mind, the essence of it lies in the fulfilling process. There's a drive or zeal that cannot be ignored and this makes life meaningful.

Sometimes, we set goals and we achieve those goals 100% and sometimes, we do not get to achieve them as planned. Then again we set goals and after achieving the set goals, this feeling of unfulfillment sets in that makes us feel like we wasted our time. I have been there and I can say that it is not a sweet feeling at all. The happiness and satisfaction felt when a set goal is achieved is simply amazing.

I had a set goal for the year once and I gave myself 6 months to achieve that goal. I believed that the timeline I gave was sufficient and would not put me into undue pressure. Six months down the line and when all was said and done, I realized that I didn't get the usual satisfaction and happiness that came with achieving a set goal.

During that time, I was job hunting but in order not to stay idle, I decided to learn a new skill and I chose computer appreciation. I added it to my list of goals to be achieved for the year and I worked towards achieving the goal. I was zealous and I learnt well but when the six months was up, I didn't feel as satisfied as I thought I would. I enjoyed learning the things I was taught but other than that, nothing else was felt.

Did I allow that to weigh me down?....... heck no. I usually have an optimistic approach to things in my life and so I tend to see even setbacks as a kind of diversion. Where I come from, there's a popular saying that setbacks are blessings in disguise.

I moved on from that feeling and kept the knowledge I received from the six months training program. I might not have felt happy or satisfied but I still gained something nonetheless and that was a plus for me.

Life is full of ups and downs. Things will not always go as planned all of the time. So when a set back occurs in the form of an unachieved goal or an unfulfilled achievement, the best thing to do is move on and continue on to the next thing or goal.

I should add that following your passion can help with not always having an unfulfilled and unsatisfied feeling. Proper thought should be given into picking a goal and understanding the intricacies & requirements of that goal before you begin to work towards achieving it might help as well.

Thank you for reading.

Tienes razón, aunque no sentirse satisfecho por una meta alcanzada, no es nada de lo que deberíamos avergonzarnos, y como dices, lo mejor es seguir adelante!

That's a great way of looking at it. Like yeah you put all the work and didn't felt as good as you wanted but you will always keep all the things you learned. And maybe that can be applied to all our goals.
