Roasted Satai Taiso Recipe
One thing that makes us proud of living in this city, we have many tofu products even though we don't have many soybeans. Soybeans are one of the imported products, because they are not a type of food that can be eaten whole. I mean, we don't eat soybeans, just boiled and then eaten directly.
Usually, soybeans will be made into food products such as tofu and tempeh. Both of these food products are the most popular in society because of their cheap price as a source of protein. The price for a piece of tofu is 1000 rupiah, which is the same as 0.05 dollars, less than 1 cent for a piece of tofu that has extraordinary protein content.
That's why there are many types of tofu and tempeh menus in Indonesia, because we can just eat tofu and tempeh. Simply put, we are very proud of that and hope that in the future the price of soybeans will not increase and the stock of tofu and tempeh will not be difficult to get.
Today I got fried tofu that I bought at the traditional market. I really like fried tofu because it tastes good, chewy and also sweet. Fried tofu is usually more expensive, but did you know that fried tofu is used as a casing to make other foods, such as taiso.
Taiso, from two words 'Tahu and Bakso'. Tahu is tofu, bakso is meatball. Can you imagine what it is? Although taiso can actually only be filled with tapioca with garlic and MSG, it will be very delicious if you add chicken or ground beef.
Today, I will make taiso with chicken filling, of course it is made very delicious because I will make it a special dish for my nephew so that he can eat lots of delicious protein today.
The Ingredients:
- 10 pcs Fried Tofu
- 50 gr tapioca
- 3 cloves of garlic, pepper, salt, chili flakes and a little seasoning
- 150 gr chicken thigh fillet
- Soy sauce and chili sauce or tomato paste
How To Cook:
It's very easy and the ingredients used are certainly not difficult to find here, but I'm sure you can make it wherever you are. As long as you have tofu in your fridge.
- I mixed chicken thigh fillet, tapioca, salt, sugar, seasoning, pepper, chili flakes and a little water so that everything is easy to smooth in the chopper. I got a very smooth dough because it was easy to cut later.
- Take the fried tofu and open it on the side to put in the chicken flour mixture, this is the most fun part because it's very easy.
- Heat the steamer and then steam for 25 minutes. Make sure the inside is perfectly cooked so that it not come off the fried tofu skin.
- After it's cooked and cooled for 30 minutes, I cut it into several pieces like cubes. Use skewers to make it look very aesthetic.
- Grill with charcoal or use a fire like a torch. Brush with soy sauce and tomato sauce, to make it spicier, add chili sauce.
- Serve while warm!
