LOH #221: Not Just A Cousin, She's MY Confidant and Sister!

If I would just always think about my unfortunes in life and lament on it most of time, it will never change but would rather give me depression. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth and given that situation, naturally, there would be things which I wouldn't be privileged for.

I'm deprived in life, and that's a fact. Now, the question here is, should I just continue stressing why I was born in such way or think of a way to change and improve my life somehow? At some point, I choose to be depressed about it. Of course, I'm also a human who has emotions. Somehow, I get tired of it and realized it won't do my life any good.

Currently, I'm living my daily life advocating for that change I wanted. Being a student during daytime, and working at night. Not to mention, trying hard to be a good mom amidst the hectic schedule. It would be an exhausting journey, for sure. Since no one can back you up because you are the back up.

When I decided to go to college, that's where I got closer with my second cousin from my mother's side. Our situation is the same, we're the backups or the breadwinners of the family. We share the same sentiments and hardships in life. She was also studying and providing for herself here in Bacolod and we have the same school. Since then, we formed a special bond.

We look after one another because no other people will or even our relatives here around the area. We're actually like sisters who got each other's back, especially in school related activities. If she can't make it, I'll do errands for her and inform her classmates.

You know, it just feels great that you have somebody with you who knows how hard you struggled and shares the same situations. She is my outlet of my worries, fears, and rants when it's too heavy to bear. That's the same if she have something bugging her on her mind, too, she can depend on me. It just feels lighter if you can vent those feelings out and there's someone listening who can understand what you have been going through.

She graduated first and also have a job right before she graduated. I also focused more on my extra-curricular activities at school, and right now, I'm also working. But before we have our priorities, she has always been my Sunday date. We would attend the first mass and eat on an unlimited Samgyupsal food chain, then watch the sunset.

Not just that, we have through some adventures together like traveling to some places and discovering new sceneries. I kinda miss those happy days that we got together. Sadly, we're both busy working right now and we don't have time to meet for months now. Even so, we're just busy but we still care for each other by checking up randomly. In that way, we could still catch up in each other's lives. I'm really hoping that someday we can improve our lives and break the curse in our families, so no one in our generations will suffer in the same way.

It's a blessing to have such kind of family member. And my other cousins wonder why I'm closer to her than them. well, she's a favorite. ♥
