She was my role model. Who and why? Loh contest #222

Who was your role model growing up?

As a child, we look up to our parents, our senior siblings or care givers and we try to emulate their way of life. Growing up in a family of seven and being among the juniors really affected my choice of a role model. Theirs this strict restriction from my Mom that we don't leave the house or the compound to somewhere else if she's not around and, if she founds out that we stepped out, we won't go unpunished. Mom was doing all these to protect us knowing too well that we might fall into danger in her absence and dad not living with us.

Not just the rules or restrictions alone, mom is very hard working. Providing food for us and also devoted time to educate us even with her busy schedule. She's always honest with people and as such, she won their trust. She was just a petty trader but because of the trust that has build with top business men and women, they started supplying her with good's. And till her last breath 🫁, she didn't ruin the trust. Because of being honest, mom who happens to be a petty trader later owns a shop and sells both wholesale and retail prices and we the children was well taken care of.

What was affect on me? Mom became my role model and applying those qualities of her in my life has helped me till date. First, i deal with people on trust and i never ruined my trust with people. Because of that, many who came around me love's doing business with me.

Just like i said earlier, mom isa hardworking women and we where well taken care of. Yes, it's good for a woman to be industrious not a liability to her husband. Mom thought us to be hardworking too. And personally, i emulated her. And it has really helped me to sustain myself even without the help of anyone. Just like Mom, who doesn't go to people's house, it has a real impact in me. Nowadays, people can be so funny and insulting. Though there's still good ones out there. Just like my role model, staying own my own has helped me to avoid some troubles associated with making friends with people. Below are the qualities of my late mom that inspires me so much.

• Simple and contented lifestyle

Mom was able to assist Dad with his house project. Trained me in school. All these made mom my role model why growing up as a child.
