Indoors? Yes||LOH-#229

I know the indoor lifestyle has truly taken over when I wake up one morning, feeling excited about not going anywhere. It feels like winning the lottery or something, not that I’ve ever won one, but you get what I mean. No anxiety about dealing with the hot sun, no chance encounters with annoying people, no work pressures. Just me, my four-cornered room, against the world.

I once saw a meme that said, "I am definitely someone you met through someone else. I am not outside enough for you to run into me." And honestly? So relatable. By choice, I am absolutely an indoors person. But, of course, life doesn’t always give you what you want. So, once in a while, you may find me outside, probably on that hangout I’ve been “planning” with my friend for decades.

For me, staying indoors is one of the most peaceful things ever. I don’t even take it too seriously with a strict to-do list or anything. I just go with the flow, unless there’s something urgent, like that laundry pile staring at me or a school project I need to stop ignoring. Or maybe I just need to rest my bones from all the stress weighing me down.

Some people think staying indoors is boring, but that’s only because they’re used to finding fun outside. To them, being indoors for a full day is like being locked up in a cell. But if you learn to be your own best company, staying indoors can actually be the best thing ever.

I start off with a bit of writing, either on Hive or in my journal, mostly the latter. Being indoors gives me the space to reflect without distractions, and I find I have more control over my thoughts. Journaling feels like self-therapy, like talking to someone who just listens, no interruptions. Sometimes, I look back at what I wrote and laugh at myself. Other times, I realize I’ve put into words, things I didn’t even know I was feeling.

On days when writing feels like too much effort, I grab a book. There’s something about flipping through pages and stumbling upon new ideas or knowledge. Lately, I haven’t been into fiction as much, I’d rather read something that expands my mind. Study materials, random interesting articles, or anything genuinely worth my time. This is also when I try to catch up on my online course, scanning through with as much focus as I can .

When the day starts feeling too serious, I unwind with good music or an interesting movie. Honestly, movies might just be my favorite indoor activity. Getting lost in a screen is my ultimate escape, and I’m not even denying it. If the storyline is gripping and the plot twists are insane, I’ll sit through hours of it without a second thought.

And then there’s self-care. Just because I’m home doesn’t mean I shouldn’t look good. I might paint my nails, just for the fancy of it. Staying indoors also means keeping my space in order. Fixing up my room, making my bed look extra inviting, and ensuring my clothes are neatly folded, because, let’s be honest, that’s the first sign of getting my life together.

By the time the day is over, I realize I’ve done quite a lot, without even planning to. And there you have it, a beautiful indoor day . No pressure, no schedule, just doing what feels right in the moment. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
