Down The Hive-ry Lane
It’s been a while since I did this. As much as I could talk about Hive all day, if and when I’m so inclined, it’s been a while since I wrote about Hive. I’m sure most of us who have been here from when I started, have heard this story a couple of times, so I guess you can skip reading about it again, but if you want a repeat experience of how everything panned out, by all means, be my guest. This week, the Ladies of Hive Community want to know:
How did you hear about Hive blockchain and what made you join? Also, What is the best about Hive?
It had been a while since I saw Wongi last. After we were done with high school, a lot of our classmates separated to go different ways in life, and even though Wongi and I were super close, we kind of drifted off as well. A long while later, and I’m not sure I quite remember the exact time, but I found myself at her house where we talked and bonded as we’d usually do. I noticed she periodically checked her phone, writing things, and always taking pictures. I said I was going to ask her about it, but we got talking intensely again and it slipped my mind.
I went to her place about two times more that week, and I think the second time I asked her about it, she showed me her phone, talking about a platform she liked writing on, and was free to write about anything. Now, I never knew Wongi to be a writer back in high school, so this came as quite the surprise. I asked her if it was just stories she wrote, and she went on to share that she pretty much wrote about everything. She ended up telling me a lot about Hive, that she was there mostly for the writing-freedom it gave her, and less about the rewards. (No cap, she was a cool onboarder like that. She said nearly nothing about rewards.)
A few days later, she came by the office I was working from at the time and helped me set up my Hive account. Now this is the part @wongi dreads but this story would be incomplete without it, so don’t beat me up, dear Onboarder. Okay, so it was time to set up the name. We used the Ecency front-end, and she made it clear to me that whatever name I inserted that wasn’t taken would become my Hive username and would never be changed. So, I began, trying all my names, Tessa, Tessie, Tessiee, Tessaaa...you name it. Nothing went through.
We were becoming frustrated, and next thing I knew, Wongi grabbed the phone from my hands and began typing. Then she exclaimed, “Oh, it worked.” I was like, “what worked?” And she showed me the craziest name ever. “Jhymi.” And I asked who that was. Suddenly, it clicked. The young lady gave me the name of her love interest at the time. “This is an outrage!” I exclaimed playfully. I have made sure that Wongi never lives this down, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to bring it up again. The fact that she gave me her then lover’s name and I’m stuck with it forever, even though the name has no bearing with me whatsoever is crazy, lol.
I have since come to love the name, though. I love being Jhymi, and I can’t imagine using another name on Hive that isn’t Jhymi, apart from my name, of course. It’s gotten to a point that someone could shout “Jimmy” anywhere, and I’d turn, thinking that the person was referring to me.
And yeah, the best thing about Hive, in my opinion, is just the ability to write about whatever you want to without repercussions. Oh, that’s if you’re not directly attacking anyone because that’s a different story on its own. But I can talk about the weather. I can talk about my love issues, heck, I can talk about my nails and how baby pink nail polish looks better on me than pastel pink polish, hehe. The limits are endless. And of course, the rewards. Hive has been a blessing to me financially. Hive pulled me out of dependence on my parents towards a whole world of independence. I could never take that for granted how much financial freedom I’ve gained by being here. How much I’ve grown and learnt being here.
Last but not least would be the people. Seventy percent of the people who mean anything to me in this world are here on Hive. Imagine how I would have been robbed of knowing the people I know now if I did not come to this Blockchain. So yeah, thank you Wongi, for bringing me here, and giving me the best mindset to make sure I lasted here this long. You guys, how many of you still have your onboarders active on the chain? I have mine and that’s a flex like no other. The end. Thank you for taking this walk down memory hive-ry lane with me.

You know speaking of wongi its been awhile i see her around myself, will go say hi to her blog, oh well this reminded of how i introduce my sister to hive and now shes a pro better than me guess thats the power of hive it gets you attached
Oh, that's lovely. And yeah, it happens like that sometimes. What's your sister's username?
thanks..😊 i got two on hive now, the first was bipolar95 and then recently my kid sister saw us gisting about hive and she disturbed will educated her about it she goes by rukyig here
Wow, now this is a shock. Never knew Bipolar is your sister. She's a good friend of mine. A small world, isn't it?
absolutely.
Noooo, not this story😂
Just when I thought this story was swept under the carpet Best😂. You know I remember that your username was more of a test run but I actually forgot the main reason why I even tried out the name😄
Over the years, I've onboarded quite a number of people and only a handful ever lasted on Hive. At some point, I felt like I was doing a terrible job with the people I onboard but whenever I turn to see how active and consistent you are, I take peace, knowing that Hive is better off without the undedicated lots.

Yeah, I've just gone through and seen that now. So, I guess you only need to talk about whether you like charcoal black, or ink black.😂
The username history is absolutely hilarious. WHAT! 😂😂 Oh that is for sure a story that needs to be told even to yours and @wongi grandchildren.
That was really funny but I think it's absolutely unique and fitting. It stands out.
No,please not the grand children 😂
Yeah, definitely telling the historical tale to the children. The story must be made known to them.😂
