Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 212

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 212th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

Important note: I have been hosting this challenge in the same format for almost 4 years but I recently decided to introduce some major changes to it so please read all the updates below. The essence of this challenge stays the same though so the intro part will be the same as it was before.

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

HERE COME THE UPDATES

Originally, the prizes for the winners were just my full upvotes given to their entries but since, unfortunately, I lately had to power down significantly, my upvotes are not that big and motivating anymore so I decided to reward the winners of each round with additional 1.5 Hive each. So now, the winners get my full upvotes on their entries plus 1.5 Hive each. All of the other valid entries will be rewarded with some smaller (usually 50%) upvotes too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement in this challenge.

In the past, I usually hosted this challenge on Thursday but because of the reasons described below, I cannot guarantee that anymore so now, I may roll out the new round on Thursday, Friday or even Saturday so if you guys don´t want to miss out on the fun here, please check out my blog regularly.

Also, in the past, I always tried to lead by example and thus open each new round with my own fresh natural photo taken during the previous 7 days. However, as you might now from my recent posts, me and my wife are now taking care of our newborn baby and it takes just so much time and energy that I simply don´t have the time to go out and take fresh natural photos anymore (btw late autumn and winter here in Central Europe are not favorable seasons for natural photography anyway) so instead, I will be using my old photos from cool natural places around the world that I have been to. Hopefully, in a few months, I will be able to go out to nature regularly again and take a nice fresh picture for each round just like I did it over the years but before that happens, I will show you some beautiful natural places that I got to see during our travels. It will also be a nice way for me to remember and relive those moments from the times when it was just me and my wife, traveling around the world - happy, young and free :)

THE RULES

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than 7 days.

Add a few lines about the photo (at least 50 words) including the date and location.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here under this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvotes on their entries and send them 1.5 Hive each as the prize. The winning entries will be featured in the next round of the challenge. I also give smaller upvotes on the other valid entries as I mentioned before.

So that´s it. Let me now open the new round of my photography challenge called Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

IMG_20170425_121900.jpg

You might have noticed that I almost always prefer horizontal pictures to the vertical ones but sometimes, you simply have to go vertical to capture what you want in its entirety, just like I did when I visiting the famous Ik Kil Cenote. Located near the world known archaeological site called Chichen Itza on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, this cenote basically looks like a giant circular hole into the ground, overgrown by some lush tropical ivy and with refreshing, crystal clear water on the bottom. These days, as you can see in the picture, the visitors can swim in the cenote but honestly, it feels a bit strange and inappropriate as the place used to be a sacred site for the Old Mayas who even brought sacrifices down there. Human bones and jewelries were found on the bottom of the cenote. As a nature lover, however, I mostly consider the cenote a truly spectacular natural landmark.

In the last round of this challenge, we had 8 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@triplug with this entry from Romania:

poze peisaj.jpg

As I wrote, I will also come today with a picture I took at my place in western Romania. After only a few kilometers by car, I reached the area of the hills near me, the area where I had planned to visit a friend who decided to implement his vision of developing the area. As for his vision, I can tell you that what he does will enhance this amazing place. Very close to the area where he owns his property, a developer has created a mansion, which today is very visited, here at the mansion for now you can only serve meals in an elegant setting with a very sophisticated menu. So I didn't think twice and raised the drone to take some pictures of this place in early spring. I took the picture on Saturday 24.03.2024. I hope you like my picture from this round. Until our next meeting, I wish you an amazing week ahead.

@suzana72 with this entry from Serbia:

Here I took the time to present you spring on Vršački Breg in Serbia! I caught this on Sunday afternoon, which was warm and nice for a walk! The path was surrounded by greenery and flowers, which were scattered on the hillside, along the path I was walking on! Greetings from the Banat Plain, which has the Vršac Hills!

@godfish with this entry from Italy:

3W72119s5BjW4PvRk9nXBzqrPWMsMTjNrXDPFFf116BRkNU4bhW7KzA95Dd3wKQQMLHRHY6KamPRHc1GHGygLgQkG1upKdYdMDbCYxocmttrfKTSowZFca.jpg

While the Czech mountains have lacked snow for almost the entire winter this year, the real ones offer great skiing adventures even now. It's true that it rains in the village of Aprica, Italy (about 1,200m), but at around 1,500m the rain turns to snow. Heavy snow. This hut is located at an altitude of about 1 800 metres and you can definitely appreciate the power of nature around here, if not the beauty. Taken earlier today.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries and send 1.5 Hive each, you can check that out in your wallets :)

I walked out into my woods, at the back of my property hoping that the early morning light would yeild something striking.
I was sorely disappointed, but still here is the most striking one out of the bunch

Nice one! I go for this angle quite often too :) Can you just add where and when you took the picture please?

@phortun were you able to see the Pinmapple location link?

No but it´s ok, you mentioned the location in the comment so it´s all good :) It doesn´t even have to be that specific, usually just the name of the country is fine. So thank you very much for adding all that info :)

My pleasure mate, that was a really nice shot and I cannot wait to see another one from the same location but in different, more colorful season ;)

Believe me, I can't wait for the time to pass, I took another trip with the drone and it seems that nature is in a hurry to come back to life.

This weekend we had temperatures of 24-26 degrees, gorgeous weather, so probably the photo will not be too late to appear.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

I don't have a lot of free time these days but when I do I celebrate booming spring. Here you can't really see it much but this flooded forest is dead anyway. Taken on the outskirts of Katowice, around one week ago.

Interesting place! Reminds me of a salt lake in Mexico. But over there, the water was actually pink :) Good to see you here again after a while. I just hope that your allergy is not as booming with the spring as mine :D :/

Saying hallo to nature again after a long winter, yesterday I had the whole day long trip and it was awesome, very needed. Luckily my allergy never was connected with pollens so I'm doing pretty good :)

Yesterday I got info that May festival in Hadinka, we discussed some time ago is not going to happen this year :( Owner of the land deniad access.

Ah, good for you :) My asthma actually evolved from allergies that I have had since I was a little kid. And you know, spring is a very intense season for us allergic people :D :/

Damn, I´m sorry mate! But this is what actually happens quite often here with alternative music festivals. The organizers often struggle to come to some agreement with the land owners. But whenever you happen to be in or around Opava, just let me know ;)

Beautiful photo 😻 must be amazing visit that magical and ancient place, México is full of interesting history. I also would like to swim there but if natives don't like it and it's a sacred place for them it's better to respect that and and don't do it.
Happy April 🍀🌞🌻

Well, the current natives (Mayas) don´t care, they use these cenotes for fun, barbecues, booze parties etc. It was only sacred for the Old Mayas. Fortunately, many of these cenotes (there are actually thousands of them on Yucatan) have some strict rules imposed to protect the unique and very fragile ecosystems that they often host. In some cenotes, many fish species, turtles, crabs and even crocodiles live ;) With your interest in wildlife and history, I think you would love these places ;)

I'm glad to know that there are strict rules to keep those amazing places safe and far from people's stupidity and ignorance 🙄😒🤦🏻‍♀️.

You're absolutely right my friend, I love them 😻

Here’s the (a bit) sunny) shot from the ski resort of Aprica, Italy. It’s a rearview up to the highest part you can ski (well, the very highest peak of 2,300 m is not captured as it was covered with fog and clouds all our stay). If there were less clouds, you could even see some higher peaks with no slopes, but this has to be sufficient for my entry ;)

Taken on Thursday from the Dosso Pasò slope.

Obloha nevadí a s trochou mlhy si hravě poradí lyžařské brýle.

Vždyť to se nevylučuje, v zimě můžeš lyžovat a v létě po těch samých horách courat pěšky nebo na kole ;)

Mimochodem, víš, jaký je rozdíl mezi bohatými a chudými lyžaři? Ti první jezdí k moři (i) v zimě a lyžovat v létě ;)

To já samozřejmě vím :) Na některých místech to dokonce jde zvládnout i v jediném dni.

I hope you like this publication, waiting for your comments and suggestions.

This photo of what is known as a starfish, and I obtained this photo on a trip for an elective subject at the central university of Venezuela, in the penultimate semester of my degree in biology, where I took the subject of advanced ecology, in where the trip to various places in the Venezuelan geography was planned, among which was the roques archipelago during my time at university in May 2006..

It is a paradisiacal tourist site in Venezuela, which is not easy or cheap to go to, it has beautiful views of the islands, surprising beaches and the option of doing recreational diving, where we can see several marine species among which is this starfish that When you see it with those waters you can see a beautiful effect,

This species is an ECHINODERM, BENTHONIC species, that is, animals that spend their lives at the bottom of the sea and feed, are born, grow and die there. These species are characterized by having PENTARADIAL symmetry, that is, similar to a 5-pointed star with its mouth located in the center.

I hope you like this photo, waiting for your suggestions and comments.

Sorry, I thought it was the post from no more than 7 days ago, I was confused, well I can't delete the post, I have nice photos but it's difficult to get them during the week, sorry.

I won't be able to use any of the beautiful photos from those years since now it is very difficult to go on a trip due to the situation in the country. I will try to look for local fauna in the city, sorry once again.

I understand. There are many photo contests here on Hive where you can submit old pictures. But this one that I organize is different because it´s about sharing fresh photos, it´s about motivating people to go out to nature and appreciate its beauty regularly, at least once every week :) I´m sure there are some parks or other natural places in your area too where you can take some fresh photos ;)
