Zingtober event and achievements!
Holo everyone!
After an amazing suggestion by one of our community artists that we may have forgotten about had it not been mentioned, we've decided to host an Inktober contest for Holozing!
We will be inviting a few judges that aren't participating to help run the contest and decide on winners, then once a winner is chosen, they'll get to draw the official soulbound Zingtober achievement that will be given out to participants based on activities!
First off, to give you an idea of how this will work, there will be 4 unique achievements you can obtain. You can only obtain one and they'll be weighted differently (examples below).
- 5k run - you participated with a unique ink drawing at least once a week or 4 times during the event (weight 10)
- Half-marathon - you participated with a unique ink drawing once every day or 15 times during the event (weight 50)
- Marathon - you participated with a unique ink drawing every day for 31 days during the event (weight 120)
- Marathon Master - you participated with a unique ink drawing every day for 31 days during the event and you followed the official Inktober Prompt list while keeping it related to Holozing (weight 300)

We'll be giving away 1000 Hive in prizes to the top 3 artists participating in Zingtober!
Distributed as follows:
#1 500 Hive
#2 325 Hive
#3 175 Hive
We will also be curating through upvotes most entries of participants putting in effort and then after the event allowing participants to claim the achievement for passive zing collection rewards tied to the soulbound NFT! (will work similar to the advent calendar achievement)
This means that claiming a Zingtober achievement will get you claimable Zing for a long time forward! This is however prone to be diluted with other collection rewards over time.
The winner of the Zingtober contest will also get the chance to draw their version of the achievement that'll be distributed to all participants and future ones. We will however make sure it's an acceptable entry and offer a payment of $100 in Hive for it. You will be allowed to include your signature in the artwork that'll be included in the achievement if you want!
How to participate
- Add [Zingtober] to the title of your entry posts
- All submissions must be related to our project but as it's quite wide you're free to be creative
- Only one color-scheme per entry, we don't want to restrict it to just being black & white but mixing more than one color would go against the event and won't be considered an entry
- Try and post in the Holozing community, but include #zingtober hashtag in your entries in case you forget/are new to Hive so we can find them
- If you're also following the official Inktober prompt list, include the name of the day in the title
- Try and post them within 48h of that day's prompt or your entry of that day, i.e. don't try to rush 3 different entries in 1 day because you didn't post anything in 3 days
- no plagiarism and AI assistance allowed, source inspiration/reference if you're using any

We'll be setting aside some rewards for judges as well as posting some compilations of the best entries leading up to the end of the event. Contact us here or on our Discord.

I have some doubts!
This event is launching at October 1, yes?
Can digital artists also participate?
Any brush restrictions?
If I choose black then can I shade the character using different shades of the same colour?
Are we supposed to draw only holozing themed entries? For eg backpack means drawing a Holozing themed backpack.
I know some of these are already answered. I just wanted to confirm 😊.

no real brush restrictions as long as it isn't something crazy
yeah we'd want people to stick to one color, so going black gives you all shades of black/gray and similar with other colors
Yes it's holozing themed only but that doesn't mean you have to only reference existing official resources, as long as it's around the time of holozing (year 2042+) you can go quite wild with it, think of it as something that could be holozing related, we just haven't gotten there yet :D
so the "hard" part would be doing both official prompt list + making it relatable to holozing, else you can just do something you think would go with holozing but without following the official inktober prompts

October is my birth month so it would be cool if I can participate. The problem is that drawing does not fall within my skillset. Maybe as a judge but was no so sure of my future schedule.

Dude, this sounds super awesome! I was curious if you could expand a bit more on the one color scheme per entry. Do the entries have to be done in ink to fit the INKtober motif? If so the one color makes sense. But, if it's just art illustration based on the daily themes... do you mean you can only use one color to fill in the illustrations?
I don't think we wanna be too limiting on what kind of brushes people use but hopefully there won't be too many going too crazy with it and keeping it towards "ink". Yeah from what I could tell most inktober entries are done with one color, so it's fine if you choose to go with brown and then add lighter or darker brown shades to fill up the rest of the illustration.

I've never drawn, I'm terrible with proportion, but I want to draw. Can I participate? I have a black pen and a notebook that I used in school, can I draw in it, sign it with the hive @ and publish it as a valid entry?

I'm looking forward to October, I want to see what I can come up with in my pixel art style, but there's just one question that's not very clear to me.
If for example the first day is about a backpack, does that mean I can draw a character using a backpack and so on, or do I have to draw just a backpack and that's it?
Because if it is allowed to draw a Holozing character with a backpack, I think it would be super cool to let our imagination run wild.

Ok it sounds like a nice challenge for me, wanting to start drawing again for a while.. BUT I've never participated in any inktober ones and not sure about the rules even after this post. Sorry for the maybe stupid questions.. I just don't like to break the rules lol.
Do all my drawings have to be in the same colour? Like all in black or all blue?
Or restricted to one colour per drawing?
This last part makes me wonder if you can have a valid entry without the prompts? Or do the prompts only count?
Hopefully, you can clear this up for me.. I'm going to try and join.. no idea if I can deliver something cool Holozing themed, but let's try :)
You either do a random prompt you come up on your own or follow the official one. For those following the official one they can earn the "big achievement" of having done artwork related to zing and followed the official prompt. That's the hardest one and requires you to submit daily.
You can however also submit daily your own prompts for the achievement under that, as long as the artwork are meant in relation to zing they'll be accepted for achievement entry points.

This wonderful arrangement with extraordinary feeling will create a great collection of art. Also a guide on how to use ink through all the rules and drawings would be really great. I think it's going to be a really big challenge to associate ourselves with the black and white period in our unique art collection. This art ensemble can be chosen from community-discussed drawings with various outlines. But we all have the opportunity to showcase our extraordinary skills. Also we are all eternally grateful to you for showing us the 5k run along with the four wonderful rules. We will try our best to make you all happy. Above all, I respect and love you for your hard work.
What I didn't understand very well was the AI non-assist rule. What does this assistance refer to?
AI generation to help with lines, tracing, etc, this event is meant to reward artists putting in effort, doesn't matter how skilled you are as long as u can be creative and try things. Using AI to cheat your way into better and faster results isn't fair to others and upon detection will cause accounts to be eliminated from the event.
Excellent idea, that will help a lot to generate new ideas. this is really going to be a lot of fun

I think this idea is great, but just to confirm since I also want to participate, the drawing can be, in addition to black and white and their respective shades of gray, can they be done in other colors but in different shades? For example, the blue, can it be light blue with dark blue, and other shades of blue? 💙🖤
It happens that at first glance the Zingtobers appear to be more oriented towards black, gray and white tones. That's why I'm a bit curious and also a bit reserved, in case it's a rule I've missed. 👀
Yeah as long as you stick to one color for that particular day!
Also make sure to not start from the beginning but on the day active currently to get the achievement rewards!
