Art and Creativity: Alchemy Stones "Divorces" eBay!

Today I finally took the step to start closing my eBay store for Alchemy Stones.

I had intended to wait until my store subscription — which is renewed on an annual basis — had expired in October 2023, but I realized that it has now been 18 months since I have made an actual sale there, and I'm just sick and tired of paying $21.95 a month in subscription fees for what feels like... absolutely nothing!

So I decided it was a better idea to just take the early termination penalty, and get on with the business of migrating my inventory from eBay to the HiveList store I recently got myself signed up for.

This way, I can still have active listings on eBay in a small way, but the bulk of my items will be somewhere else.

New Opportunities!

Frankly, I would rather explore the possibility of doing commerce on the Hive blockchain and in cryptocurrency, and run the risk of not having any results here, rather than continue to pump money into something that repeatedly has shown itself to not generate any results. "Something," I might add, that keeps getting more expensive every year.

Of course, this still does not solve the general greater problem of being able to "translate" my artwork into online sales. We always do well with the stones at in-person events, but not online. That's still a tough nut to crack.

But it's not impossible. I have several stone painting "colleagues" who started at about the same time as I... and they've managed to do it. Mind you, stone painting is the only thing they do... and it is but one of many things for me.

The HiveList Factor...

The way I see it, though, is that by putting my stones in a HiveList store, I will at least continue to have the web exposure and to have a place I can point people to when they say they're "interested."

On top of that, I have the additional benefit of being able to point people already here in the Hive community to the stones via occasional blog posts on which I might actually earn a reward.

All things considered, earning a modest reward for talking about the stones as infinitely better than paying $21.95 out of pocket every month for pretty much nothing at all!

Onwards!

Thanks for visiting! Feel free to leave a comment, if you feel so inspired... engagement is part of what makes Hive such a cool venue!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and support!
