A terrifying day

I was studying at school, as I was not an early riser. I was not in the habit of having breakfast and didn't feel like eating at such an early hour.

I usually had a cup of strong coffee before going to study. It was my source of energy and encouragement to start the new day. Whenever I woke up with a temper of a thousand demons, a cup of hot coffee was on the kitchen counter, waiting to be devoured by the mouth thirsty for a delicious flavor. Every morning, a cup of coffee made my day infinitely better, and I had a habit when I was at school.

But one morning, that custom was interrupted by a fact that did not seem true but rather a joke in bad taste. The coffee had run out the night before when some visitors arrived to see my father, who was recovering from an accident he had suffered.

The cup did not appear that morning, and my mother offered me an aromatic one to fill my stomach. Angry, I ran out of the house because I was late for school.

The bus I was taking to go to the place was gone. I had to walk to school, and to make matters worse, it started to rain, and I got my clothes wet. I was an hour late, and I missed the first class. I was about to kill someone, figuratively speaking. Haha.

After going through those hardships at the beginning of the day, I said to myself it couldn't get any worse. I was tired, wet, and with a horrible discouragement. It seemed like I hadn't slept all night. When I was about to go back to class, the math teacher said that there was a surprise exam. We all let out a sigh into the air, and I could not believe the day I was living. I just wanted it to end.

The truth is that my stomach creaked and revealed itself to me from deep inside. The lack of food made me lose concentration, and I didn't pay much attention to what the teachers were explaining. I begged for the 10 a.m. break to buy something to eat before my body gave up.

After begging for those torturous hours of class to pass, recess and I ran to the school cafeteria to look for a lifeline for my soul, which was fainting for some food.

When I was standing in line to order what I wanted and was about to take out the money to pay, I realized that I hadn't brought a single cent. I couldn't believe my bad luck. My spirits were low as I got out of the line and left the cafeteria. At that moment, a friend arrived and saw me with a very low countenance.

She asked me what was wrong and I told her everything that had happened. She saw me with a very low countenance and was moved. She went away and left me alone. I kept looking at the dark sky, and raindrops began to fall. I ran for shelter, and my friend came out with a cup of hot coffee and a piece of cake.

I jumped like a puppy and could only thank my savior as I devoured what she gave me. My friend smiled as she watched me finish eating the food that looked like a delicacy from the gods. After I had something in my stomach, the caffeine entered my body. My day was getting better.

It's amazing what food, especially coffee, does to our body to make it function properly, and this is my answer to this week's question in our beloved coffee group. I look forward to reading them in the comments.

Sometimes, a coffee a day keeps unhappiness at bay.

I could imagine how you felt with the teacher's surprise exam adding to the lack of food or coffee.

It's a good thing your friend came through for you.

Thank you for sharing.

As I always say, a friend is neither a good friend nor a true friend if they don't give you cake and/or coffee, hehe.

For us coffee friends, starting the day without a steaming cup of coffee is never a good thing. All the disasters of the day seem to be a direct consequence of the fateful start without the sanctified and precious caffeine 😏😜

I really liked that phrase, it's true that good friends invite you for coffee and cake.🤭

Thanks for that delicious coffee, friend.☕

Excellent day.

It's the honest truth, there's nothing better than having a full belly, no matter what happens afterward.😁

@rinconpoetico7 you said it all. Just like my mom too. She uses coffee ☕🍮 for a lot of things. For more energetic work and more. So you are absolutely right on that. But I use it for sleeping sometimes.
