WHAT POWER OUTAGE COST ME

(Edited)

Living with a bad device was hell, having no power bank with a bad device in Nigeria was fire. If you have not been there you wouldn't know how it feels. What's worse is living with a very slow, bad device without a power bank and no electricity. This is as good as not having a phone at all, I mean how do I survive? But I survived, I didn't die lol, but the horrors it cost me is one I can not forget in a hurry. So without further ado, let me talk about what a power outage cost me, especially when I was living with a bad phone.

If you've followed some of my past posts, you will know how much I have always talked about getting a new device. I'm so happy I am finally free from that God-forsaken device because it was hell. I always said that nothing has taught me patience in this life like that phone. I still keep it even after buying my new phone, sometimes I look at it and just smile seeing how far I have gone. I like to keep it to remember where I am coming from, the thing is no matter how much I talk about it, if you have never been in my shoes, you wouldn't know how it feels.

WHAT I WENT THROUGH

Countless times I had missed participating in contests and all because of the phone and the bad electricity supply we suffer here. There have been more than 10 times when I charge my phone for the entire day only to end up with 30% battery, so I decided I would use it to write as I charged, the battery still drains while it's charging, and by the time I'm done writing, I'm left with like 10% battery, now it's time to post, my phone begins to hang, until it's probably 10 minutes to the end line, by the time I am almost done arranging everything, power goes off. My battery ran to 1% before my very before within 2 minutes, the most painful part of it all was when I only needed to press the upload icon, the power went off, and my phone went off.

Several times I got depressed from what both Electricity and my phone were agreeing to do to me, but I had to endure with the hope that everything would change for the better, everything is changing gradually, my former device was a 1 GB RAM device, my new phone is an 8gb ram device. Since I purchased it I only suffer from posting daily when there is a power outage for a long time. Although last week my street didn't have electricity because our transformer was faulty, this meant I needed to go to a betting shop to charge my device and also maximize my phone usage. I would only post once a day, engage a little, and go offline as I haven't gotten a power bank yet.

ANOTHER EXPERIENCE

Power outage had also cost me my life at a certain point. If you remember the post I talked about my life flashing before my eyes when I fell from the top floor of the duplex at home. My mum was pregnant then and called me to help her get something around 1:00 am because she was having the usual cramps because there was no electricity and my room was just on top of the sitting room floor with no demercative protection yet as it was the last thing remaining to be fixed (it was supposed to be fixed the next day) I was not very familiar with the house too when I found myself on the floor of the sitting room bleeding out before passing out.

I'm grateful I didn't fall on the glass center table because I was just inches away from it. The funny thing that happened was immediately I fell and opened my eyes for a few seconds, and the light came. It was as though it was waiting for me to fall before coming lol, but then again, these experience with power outage and many more is something that can be only tackled through finance, that's why we work every day to not just make ends meet but also eradicate poverty and not have to depend on electricity from the government.

Wow, I would be really annoyed if everything was ready, and the battery ran out just with one click. Your second story is good, what was that? It's good that you turned a funny story out of such a situation. In the end, if we're alive, everything becomes a story!

We live on generators and power banks in this country, we can't do without them, they are part of us, this country is something else when it comes to electricity and people are paying the bills every month.

Nothing more frustrating than a device with a faulty battery. It really hurts watching your battery percentage drop like a battery countdown. And there's nothing you can do about it!
I'm glad all that belongs to your past now

It's incredible how something as seemingly simple as a phone can become a source of immense frustration when coupled with power outages. Your story reminds us of the importance of technology and its role in our lives, especially in regions where reliable electricity is a luxury.

My dear, this is my experience as it was last year till middle of this year before they stole the phone, nothing is more frustrating then a bad phone, it will switch off by itself, then turn on when it feels it has punished you enough, I even cried one night because I couldn't do my term paper, the phone just went blank but it was charging. Phone has done me something. Thank God it was stolen unless I won't have this new phone. And light in Nigeria is a different story. #dreemport
