I imagined that all artworks have some fantasy vibe. And so, I made my own artwork base on fantasy characters or creatures.

Once there was a man named Iroh, labeled as the greatest warrior of his nation. The king in favors him for everything. He never realized that this grows so much envy and hate towards his comrades. On the day of their secret mission they were ambushed. Iroh and his team fight with all their strength. When Iroh saw one of his fellow in danger he rushed and help him. But it turns he betrayed Iroh and stab him with a poisonous dagger. The ambushed was all planned by that man.

The daughter of Iroh learned that truth and spent her time to learn ancient reborn magic. She found that an special bracelet could bring his father back alive. Never knowing that bracelet is a curse. It wasn't the spirit of Iroh that has brought back, it was an evil spirit controlling the dead body of Iroh. Unleashed the anger of Iroh the Vengeful Spirit slashed every friends or foe he encounters.

Without further ado, join me walk through the process of creation and hope you have fun as the art progress from the start to finish.

Digital Art Process

I started with a sketch for the pose and composition of the character. 🙂 Rough sketch is where I explore the character's facial expression and vibe. I want to give him an evil smile as in he is a hopeless killing machine.

After the sketch I refine the line I do a grayscale method. It's like shading your sketch to add some depth to it.

In here I added the base color. 😁 I did that by adding a layer on top of the grayscale and set to multiply. To lighten it up add a layer, set to overlay and fill in a color light yellow orange.

Then I increase the brightness and levels to decrease the level of muddiness.

✨✨✨

And then I merge all layer start to render the face of the character.

Render the body down to the sword. I am color picking in areas of the illustration to paint. I also add blues to the leg behind to add some arial perspective.

After I have finished rendering the character, I add drop shadow below the character.

✨✨✨

Final Artwork

Lastly, I add the background for intense aura. I also add some green glow light around the bracelet. This was supposed to be a magical curse light and finished the illustration.😁
