IN BUSINESS, IT IS PAY BEFORE SERVICE AND NEVER SERVICE BEFORE PAY

The phrase PAY BEFORE SERVICE is said for a reason and should remain that same way. I have come to see people nowadays doing the opposite of rendering services before pay and likely end up regretting their actions.

People are devious and will likely not pay you after rendering your service. You might end up be taken for granted or get exploited without receiving the pay for what you have worked for. Business should not be taken likely because you might be in need for a customer and you end up with one who sees the desperation in you, and probably taking the advantage of it.

When I knew little, I have been taken for granted and underappreciated by people because I failed see the worth of the service I give them. If you are thinking, what business do I do? I don't really do a business but I played the guitar to earn some money while back in school. Worst of it is that, when I am called for a program, I don't charge and if I do, I will be told that I should come and would be paid later. The truth I ended up over working myself for peanuts.

Back then, I remembered playing my guitar on up to 10 songs in a studio for an artist only to receive less than $10. Those days are days I don't like to talk about because they annoy me sincerely.

Almost the same thing is happening to where I work at the moment and it pains me my boss is too gentle over there matter. I work as an elevator engineer in a company here in Nigeria and we offer services like elevator installation, repairs and maintenance services.

We have companies who calls us to check out their lifts and help them to service them but due to the fact that we render SERVICES BEFORE RECEIVING PAYMENTS, companies are beginning to owe and refusing to pay.

I don't really want to talk too much about the issue but when you render services without receiving payment first, you are putting yourself at the risk of not getting at all.

So here is an advice: Before you do anything for anybody at least receive 75% of your pay, that way you are secured of being exploited

Usually it's all about trust. Who gets rekt ? In most cases - who made the FIRST step. Wether it is service or payment, is not that essential. One gets screwed once the other side stops fullfill it's promises. In reality you can reduce risks 50% by doing 50% prepayment. In this case both party's face a risk of loosing 50% money of the contract. BOTH! Could be even more, smaller steps like 33% or 25% the size of the contract, if your service is easy dividable in to smaller chunks. Alternative? Use escrow.

Yeah, I like the escrow Idea. We make use of escrow when we buy coins in my local current on WhatsApp. That way if one end fails then the other party get his money back.

Trust matters, but the way the world is going to at the moment, it is hard to trust someone who you newly meet. 50% share is also not bad, but I think they should be a trusted online escrow platform in which other businesses can use for save business deals.

More like, if I am to service your car, I will tell you to send the money to this online platform on the so condition I am to service your car and after I am done, I will go back there to confirm that task has been completed while waiting for you to confirm yours as well after checking your car is in good condition.

That way I think trust between customers would be settled. This is a business idea also for any rich business man to come up with a online company like that if it doesn't exist already. Or do you know of any like that?
