WE 170: Going back to the past
The only constant in life is change. - Heraclitus
Everyday, there were changes, from our emotions, status in life, our thinking, our knowledge, our actions and everything. Change as Heraclitus said is the only constant in life.
Changes both brings good and bad for ourselves and to the society. It has advantages and disadvantages.
There are changes that make us happy and there are also changes that makes us sad. Sometimes we wonder, what if things didn't improve like what we have today? What if life is the same as before? What if we will go back to the past?
Asking those questions made me realize that there were lots of things that have changed in society that I wished had not. I will just give three of them.
Having access to electricity
Having electricity is a big help to us, we cannot deny it. It makes our job easier and faster. It allows us to do things easily during the evening.
On the other hand, electricity also brought a disadvantages in our life.
Electricity destroys the nature of our body. It made the evening, day. The creator gave us the day to do our work and gave us night to rest but because we have electricity, we are also working at night and trying to sleep at day.
Since we have electricity, most of us don't have good and enough sleep. Most people can't have a complete eight hours sleep that will make our body and mind functions well.
Nowadays, our body is already asking for rest, for sleep but because we have electricity, we can still do something.
I remember when I was a child, we don't have electricity. We need to prepare and have our dinner early, do our assignments early and will sleep and rise early.
Kids passtime
Kids nowadays are destroying their eyesight, destroying their body and their mental capacity by focusing more on mobile games as their pass time. It also affects their attitude and they become addicted to it.
How I miss those games we played before as our pass time. We have a lot of mind games, board games and games that will improve our physical fitness like Chinese garter, tumbang preso, shatong and many more to mention.
Nowadays only few kids are enjoying playing on the rain, they prefer to play mobile games and they can be with their mobile phones on a very long time.
Child discipline
Most kids today are hard headed, don't have respect to the elders and seems to have more power over their parents.
Parents cannot impose all the right discipline for their children because of the child protection law. Child seems to have overpower their parents in terms of discipline. When the parents want to discipline them, some will said, I will go to the police.
I remember when I was still a child, our parents discipline us by spanking us whenever we have sinned.
When we are grown up, our father ask forgiveness for spanking us when we are still young but you know what we also thank him for disciplining us because of not, we might become a bad people in the society.
I don't want to say that the child protection law is bad, because I also knew that there were parents hurt their children too much.
Kids nowadays can't accept discipline and instructions as a way to guide them but instead others think we are repremanding them and they will be angry towards their parents.
Disclaimer: These are all just my own opinion, my own idea and I hope you won't get me wrong.
Every change that happened in the society really brings advantages and disadvantages. We can take it's positive side and neglect the negative sides. It is about ourselves, it is about our choices and it is about our own decisions how we handle situations.

Well I have some disagreements here, but I guess it's normal and I think it's given by our belief system, which is not the same.
But friend, the person who wants to sleep with quality can do it at any time of the day. It is only necessary to allocate a room for it, where nothing distracts. And that the room meets the requirements of each person, according to their nature, for rest. I say this because there are people who do not rest well on some soft types of mattresses (they prefer hard surfaces) ... and others (like me) who have a bad mattress. This will be solved. hahaha ....
Electricity is quality of life. What I disagree with is the use of fossil minerals to generate it. I would like to see it generated by sunlight, wind, water... renewable energy.
About the fact that the night was made to sleep... well, for me it was made for writing.
This protection law thing... it's necessary too. I believe that it is possible to educate without mistreating. Violence generates violence, traumas, withdrawn children or in other cases with violent personalities. Or depressive, or with serious psychological problems that can even lead them to make regrettable decisions such as suicide. Problems of low self-esteem... and many other things.
It is not the children, it is us who have to learn to educate or to do something so that these new generations are good people, who contribute to this society and to this planet.
Yes I respect your opinion too because as I have said it is just my opinion and you're right we have a different belief system.
As to sleeping at day, I was able to write it because before I am working at night shift and I can't really sleep well at day. I do everything I can to sleep but I can't and it made me weak. I prefer to swap schedule with my workmates if I can so that I can't work at night.
About the child protection law, yes I understand your point, it's not the children is directly at fault but still the parents. Parents nowadays are more focused on jobs or works and just leave the kids with other people who are not that concerned about discipline for their children. (I don't know in your country but here in Philippines that is what most likely happened.) Parents leave to take care other children and leave their children to other people.

I think the same thing happens everywhere, due to the hectic nature of the days, governments that do not care about their people, people forget what is important in order to obtain material stuff, others do not even have enough money to live on, so they leave aside their children's education to work as slaves and so on... I do not know if we will see a light at the end of the tunnel.
It has been a very productive exchange of ideas. It really has been. I don't think anybody has the truth, my friend. We have to find it somewhere in the middle. Somewhere that involves happiness, understanding and personal development.

I like and agree with your choices. That doesn't mean I agree with beating up little kids to "discipline" them, but I certainly believe children grow up with much less discipline than before and I'm not sure it's altogether good for them. There's a balance to be found, a way to discipline without crossing lines and if done I believe children will grow up a little more ready for the harsh realities of life. If I was the boss of the world, every kid would enter military service between high school and getting a job, or going to university. That's sort them out. (Some will be glad I'm not the boss of the world I guess.) Lol.
Ahahaha I am one of those who will be glad that you're not the boss of the world because I won't let my son enter military service, I am the one who is afraid lol.
About discipline, yes I understand and respect your point. The spanking or beating that I mean is just enough to let the child know their mistakes but yes I will also disagree and will be mad to the parents who will cross the line and will do that much to the kids to the point that they need to bring the kids to the hospital. (Sorry I can't explain well my ideas in English)
Fair enough, unless he wants to as an adult and will do so whether you let him, or not.
Hahaha you're right again on that. When he is still young, I can control him but when he is grown up, he can decide for himself and all I can do is support and pray for his safety.

Everything may disadvantages naman.. The kids policy you are talking about..back in the day when corporal punishment was still used by parents, ibang effect din.. Depende sa kids yan..some went rebellious instead of disciplined...
About past time.. If there wasn't past time, kids will only focus on studying and resting.. There wouldn't be leisure time for some fun..
If there weren't electricity, we aren't here by now.. although it has a big impact on nature, it makes our life more convenient, makes our lives even brighter..technology evolved..
Just imagine if there isn't technology,.. Yes life would be simple and stress less..but lack of dreams and less challenging..

I understand your point sis especially about sa discipline, I read some of your story before. Ang tinutukoy ko lang Naman kasi Dito is Yung slight lang, di Naman Yung super nasasaktan na Yung Bata at Ang iba ay nagkabalibali na. Parang pitik lang kung Baga hehehe.
Yes technology will improve more and more kasi naka prophecy din Yun sa Bible that the knowledge of people will increase. Minsan nga lang di nagagamit sa mabuti. Mga Bata ngayon nasa cp lang palagi Ang Mukha di na mautusan ehhehe
That's why depende yan sa kids and how adult discipline them..
And iba nakikinig kapag proper discipline.. ng iba nang aabuso..
As for mobiles, ang iba ginagamit sa tama..ang iba nagiging addict.. We can't really control them.. Cguro it's not the invention of phone's prob.. Sa influence yan with other kids at pati yung napapanood sa social media..
Yung mobile game app din...hndi mganda effect..
There are games that are beneficial to kids nmN..like yung educational..

Oh that kid pass time, sad reality, iilan nalang ang nag eenjoy ng mga larong bata noon, mostly, gadgets na talaga ang pinag kakaabalahan ng mga bata. May ilang case pa nga diba, na talagang affected di lang eyes nila but studies too. Coz their smartphones are on the way to their studies. Kung kaya lang sanang iiwas ng mga parents din yong mga anakis nila sa cellphone ee. Kaso yong iba busy talaga sa work aguyyy
This is indeed a very sad reality sis na kung pwede sarap bumalik na lang sa time na Wala pang mobile phones Ang mga Bata.
Kaya nga, kaso, tuloy tuloy din kasi ang change sa mundo ee, even humans. Di na maibabalik pero kaya pa naman sigurony gawin if gugustuhin lang.

Yes when we were child, we didn't like it and sometimes hate them for it but as we grow up we realized it value.
