Lost in Space (#5)

After two weeks of absence since it was my birthday and celebrated it twice making a larger party with some other family members, it's time to get back on track with my street art discoveries that I've been missing so badly in this break.

While in my previous post we discovered some mystery, eye catchy creatures and the story behind them, I decided for today to pick the graffiti that had more or less a connection with space, even if the story might have nothing to do with it.

But before we jump in and untangle every single one of these, I'd like to mention that this post will also take part in the CCC's Street Art Contest #215!

The first graffiti, and also one of my favourites, is a street art that I first discovered by mistake, having no idea how many of these are being hidden in town. Back then I only stared at it for a couple of minutes and then walked away. But once it got to my ears that there are close to 100 pieces of street art, I thought it was about time to meet again and find out its story too, at least this time.

So the work entitled "Re:Play" projects the position occupied by every single person in society who is often lost in time seeking safety and financial stability to pass the uncertain present but not before adding some modern notes like: absence/presence, real/virtual, technology/tradition.

The upcoming street art comes from Tim Marsh who gained some popularity in Romania after getting involved in creating lots of grafitties for it. The story from this artwork though, is one of the most powerful ones I've heard of in this world. Such as, a warning sign for those seeking science out of the planet we live on, paying too much attention in a world where humanity can't survive while our own planet is slowly dying and reduces our years of living with it. Being completely focused on the unknown and science, we don't realize the need for presence in our own world that even if it offers everything we need, it's slowly dying because of us.

The upcoming street art is a 2in1 where there are two options when it comes to stories but might differ depending on what the one looking at it feels first. Such as, we could speak of a robot willing to assimilate all people's emotions in his own heart, or an astronaut searching for life in other parts of the galaxy than our planet. Which story do you feel closer to your heart?

Artists: MIRCEA POPESCU

Next, we have a moment of gratitude for a future person who might discover Mars as there was no human reaching it other than some robots and devices fully controlled by scientists while still being part of Earth. So based on the thought that this happening might still take a while, the artist wanted to be the first to congratulate that person when the moment arrives, by making a piece of art, that hopefully, will last forever.

Artists: PANDELE
Location: nr. 1, Strada Emil Cioran, 3 550025, România

Last but not least, we have one of the most exposed street arts in town which I'm happy to still look like new after 6 years since it was painted. This time the story is quite show and concise as the street art was meant to aim to emphasize the action of assisted submersion of the figurative manner, rendered through an element meant to explore the unknown, which is overcome every day.

Thanks so much for stopping by! ❤️
Yes, it's a festival. Its name is "Sibiu Street Art Festival" and it takes place yearly in July where artists from all over the world visit Sibiu and bring their street artworks to make the city more beautiful.
I have shared already 25 works from this festival but a lot more are coming. This is just 1/4 from what we have in town :)

Hey first of all congratulations on your birthday! You had a good reason to take a break, I hope you enjoyed it a lot.

I'm surprised that there are so many graffiti with the space concept, I love them, but I don't get to see so many and even less in such a good condition. Great photos, one can see each piece quite well. I wouldn't know which one to choose, they are all great, although the penultimate one really caught my attention!

Thank you!

Indeed. Some of them are resisting in front of the test of life really impressive. But many are losing the battle after just 2-3 years only. The penultimate one is a good pick! I loved it too.
