Vital geometry / Geometría vital [Eng-Esp]
Last June 24th in the evening, "la cremá" took place in the city where I live. "La cremá" represents the end of the popular festivities of San Juan, known as the "Hogueras de San Juan". During the days between June 20 and 24, the works (monuments) made with wood and cork are exhibited in the streets of the city, which will be consumed by the flames on the day of "La cremá". In Catalan/Valencian, "la cremá" means "the burning" in Castilian (Spanish). This year, more than 180 monuments were burned throughout the city.
The work of the artist Pere Baenas, entitled "Vital Geometry", won the first prize in the special category. This work belonged to the Hoguera Florida Portazgo and was located at 21 Cefeo Street in the city of Alicante (Spain).
The "Vital Geometry" monument made reference to classical Greek culture, with allusions to Pythagoras, Euclid and the goddess Gaea, and included a colorful allegory that recalled the human being's eagerness to study the cosmos. A bust of Euclid, "father of geometry", was planted at its base. The wise man was reinterpreted, in bright colors, with his compass while describing a solar circle "and through his eyes begins to study the geometric figures" along with creations of Da Vinci and other geniuses.
With a height of nearly 20 m, the jury valued its complex structure, since it was supported by a single fixed point and crowned with a spectacular top with allegorical figures on the theme of mathematics and algebra.

¡Gracias! Lo mismo digo, ¡Suerte!
Beautiful work. Too bad it was destroyed by fire. But the show must be a thing of beauty.. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.
Sorry for the delay, but the Internet was really slow on vacation... Have a nice Sunday.
No problem. I thought that since it wasn't graffiti it didn't go into curation.
Yes, 100.000 € it cost to fire. If you think about it coldly, it's a bit crazy.
Oh 100,000 euros is a lot. I'd rather see them in my bank account than go up in smoke 😀
Me too!
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
