Gruener Brewery in Nuernberg
Lunch time
Yeah, my client took me for lunch into a brewery. It seems they either love me or they had a secret plan.
Anyway, it is a Bavarian tradition to have beer - just one light one - for lunch. Similar to the wine your might get in France.
Hey Hive Family
enjoy a special “light” lunch
and let us travel the world again
Love their signs

"INSTITUT ZUR BEKÄMPFUNG AKUTER UNTERHOPFUNG"

As you might be a follower of the #BeerSaturday, you will fully understand this. You might even see my big smile while

The text is likely humorous or satirical, typically seen in contexts like breweries, indicating a playful take on their mission to address or prevent a lack of hops in beer.
Grüner Brewery
This beer Heaven is located in Nürnberg, Germany and is renowned for its traditional approach to brewing, particularly focusing on classic German lagers like Helles. The brewery emphasizes quality and heritage, brewing their beers in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, the German purity law that dates back to 1516, ensuring that only water, malt, hops, and yeast are used.
Helles Beer
Helles, a pale lager, is a signature style in Bavaria, known for its smooth, slightly sweet, and malty flavor balanced by a mild hop bitterness. This approachable beer is a staple in German beer halls and is celebrated for its refreshing qualities, making it a perfect complement to hearty German meals like schnitzel.
The History
Brewing in Nürnberg has a long history, with the city being a key player in the beer culture of Germany. Breweries like Grüner have maintained centuries-old traditions while adapting to modern tastes. Helles, specifically, originated in Munich in the late 19th century, developed as a response to the growing popularity of Czech Pilsners. Today, it remains one of the most beloved beer styles in Bavaria and beyond.
Food at the Brewery
Gruener Brewery’s on-site restaurant in Nürnberg offers a quintessential Bavarian dining experience, blending hearty traditional meals with a casual, welcoming atmosphere. The space is often filled with long communal tables, encouraging a warm, social environment where locals and tourists alike gather to enjoy authentic German cuisine and the brewery’s signature beers.
The Menu and Food Style
The restaurant is known for its classic Bavarian dishes, featuring generous portions of comfort food like huge schnitzels, sausages, and pretzels, often accompanied by sauerkraut, potatoes, and gravy. The schnitzel, particularly a crowd favorite, is typically served in portions large enough to satisfy even the hungriest patrons, paired perfectly with a pint of Gruener’s Helles. Other staples include roast pork, spätzle (German egg noodles), and freshly baked bread rolls.
As you see my “little” schnitzel with potatoes 🥔 it was a hard job to fight.
The Atmosphere and Crowd
Lunchtime at Grüner Brewery’s restaurant is lively, often drawing a diverse crowd. You’ll find families, working professionals, and groups of friends stopping in for a midday meal, alongside tourists eager to taste authentic Bavarian cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, with beer flowing freely and the rich aromas of sizzling meats filling the air. Regular patrons appreciate the consistent quality of both food and beer, while newcomers are drawn in by the rustic charm and the promise of a true German dining experience.
Whether enjoying a leisurely lunch or a quick break from the workday, Grüner Brewery’s restaurant offers an authentic slice of Bavarian culture, where food, beer, and company come together in perfect harmony.

I really like the design of this brewery, nice typo for BRAUHOUS.
And your schnitzel makes me envious, now I'm hungry 😅
Have a great weekend. Cheers
It seems I paid with the fun I had at lunch and got many delays with my train ride back home.
I was to this very brewery two or three years ago :) It was crowded, but I could do a swift tasting anyway.
As it was lunchtime I prefer to stay with just one „Helles“ and a little schnitzel
:)
Happy Octoberfest
This your client must be nice and it's also a sign that you're good to him or her. Maintain such positive attitude.
