Buying school supplies
Buying school supplies is necessary before the school starts so that our students will have something to use in school.
When do you buy school supplies? Do you buy a month before the classes start? A week before? Or a day before?
All of them have advantages and disadvantages. For today's blog I will also share my preferences on when to buy school supplies.
I buy two weeks before the classes start and not after a pay day and weekends
I really wanted to buy in advance because I don't want to buy where most people buy. I don't like to go to the stall, store or mall with so much crowd, that you can't move well, you can't choose well and I hate the most is queueing in a very long line. It's a waste of time.
I also don't buy during or a day after a pay day or salary day because I know many people will go shopping or will go to the market because they have the money they need.
I also don't buy during weekends especially Sundays because on that day most people don't have work and that's the only day they could go out with the whole family.
In short, I don't want to go with the crowd.
Since we don't have the list yet of the things we need to buy, I just asked their teacher the initial things to buy.
I just bought the following first:
Construction paper - 28.00
Eraser - 6.00
Crayons - 25.00
Notebook (2pcs) - 44.00
Paper (2pcs) - 40.00
TOTAL = 143.00 ($2.86)
One week before classes start, their teacher send us the requirements.
We then decided to go to the mall to make sure that all we need was there.
I let my son helped me on getting and choosing his things. I let him get the things he needs.
We pick the clear book first and my son wants to get an envelop with holder but I told him that he already have it the one that he use when he was in Kinder 1. It looks like new and it is still good.
We then get a plastic envelope and pencils. He want to get scissors but then he still have a scissors at home.
We also buy big clear tape, additional notebook and A4 size bond paper.
We also picked one clay because it is one of their requirements but when I got at home I wondered that we don't have the clay. I checked the receipt and it cannot be found too. Maybe it fall when we carry them from one place to another. We will buy again soon, lol.
We also buy water color, folder with jacket and crayola. I buy another crayons because I found out that the crayons I bought before don't have the same quality with the crayola.
I also buy pencil case and glad I saw an on sale pencil case and I choose it.
Here are the prices of the supplies I bought:
Pencil case - 20.00
Water color - 62.00
Crayola - 34.00
Pencil (3 pieces) 49.00
Packing tape - 64.00
Notebook - 23.00
A4 bond paper (2 packs) - 54.00
Folder with jacket - 22.50
Plastic envelope (2 pieces) - 60.00
Clear book - 129.00
TOTAL 517.50 ($10.35)
Still there are a lot more things we need to buy in the following days and just this morning, their teacher required us to buy one ream of bond paper with 70gsm. I don't know how much it's cost. Do you have any idea?
My son really enjoyed being with me buying his school supplies. He felt satisfied and contented picking his things accordingly.
At this age, they already have their likes and dislikes. Let us help them learn the decision making by letting them choose even the color or designs of the things they will use. We can allow them to choose as long as it is also the right thing for them.
All photos are mine except the source was stated. Thank you so much for reading.
This is also my participation for the #marketfriday initiated by @dswigle.
Keep safe and have a great weekend everyone.

Yan ang bet ko gawin dati nasa pinas pa ako.. I like buying school supplies for my siblings ☺️
nakakatuwa talaga Ang ganoon sis kasi you will make them happy.
Buying school stuff before most people do is a good idea for some reasons. Your son seems to be excited :)
As to a ream of bond paper, it might be less than Php500 or depending on the brand.
Yes @ifarmgirl or any day as long as it is not a day that most people do to avoid so much crowd.
I haven't buy a ream of bond paper yet, maybe I can't pass it tomorrow.
Less crowd is better :)
Hope you get to buy it soon. I suppose it is not that urgent :)
It is urgent but the teacher gave a deadline.
Aah, at least you know when is the last submission date :)
Ang mamahal na ng mga school supplies sis ui, grvh! Yoko din mamili during peak hours kasi crowded tlaga sis.
Sinabi mo pa sis, grabe lahat nagmahal na.
The store looks well-stocked and it's nice that you're able to grab everything before everyone else's. I used to do mine last minute in the past 😂 and it frustrated my mom.
Buying in last minute means crowded people and sometimes the supplies are out of stock.
Buy earlier next time 🙂
Wow this is a clever way to buy things. I usually just buy whenever and how ever before but I grateful to you for this idea. At least I can save money using this method.
Thanks for sharing dear. Good
I'm happy that you get some idea from me and that's the one purpose why we are here.
Nice to meet you. See you around.
Muy importante, esto me recuerda que no he comprado ni un lápiz y ya falta poco para terminar las vacaciones en mi país.
