Follow Friday: How many shopping days?

The News

It seems to have been a good week for Bitcoin, which generally means other coins may not do so well. $HIVE is still keeping a healthy lead over 'the other coin'. It is certainly a lot better than it was not too long ago. SPS is also doing well and you can use it to buy the new Chaos Legion packs on @splinterlands, even if you cannot open them just yet,

Seeing this post by @hive.pizza reminded me that we can spend what we earn here even when we do not have an easy route to fiat. On their store you can buy all sorts of games. At checkout you can opt to pay with $PIZZA or $HBD.

Another place you can buy and sell things is via @hivelist. There are NFTs listed there, but also physical items.

Friday Followables

  • @lortiamjb is a comic artist who recently joined. They have some cool fantasy comics out. A new one is available via Indiegogo.
  • @bryan-imhoff has been here a while, but has been showing off some of his recent artworks.
  • @nathanmars took some time away from Hive to recharge, but is back with daily posts of his thoughts
  • @tdctunes is on a quest to keep his summer going despite the UK heading into winter.
  • There is always lots going on with @stickupmusic and their musical/artistic friends.

I will feature people I find in these posts, but anyone can do a #FollowFriday post to help others build their following.

The Doghouse

I have seen so many people just chasing votes from various bots and tribes. You can get those automatically by using tags, but it really does limit how well you can do. It is much better to build a following of actual humans who will respond to your posts. What is the point of creating them if nobody will see them? I have seen some buying votes from one of the big dapps, but that may not be very profitable and is unlikely to increase their following.

My @proofofbrian bot is finding a few posts where people mis-spelled a tag when trying to earn tokens. It leaves them a comment to let them know. I have updated it to look for more variations.

The End

We are rapidly heading for the end of a year when so much has happened for Hive. I expect lots of people have targets of where they want to get to and I hope they can achieve them. Investing money and/or time in any crypto project has risks, but you can find a lot to enjoy here. It is not just about moving money around. Hive is people.

Hive five!

Thanks for the shoutout. We also have a growing library of ebooks and video courses as well as the physical products and NFTs.

I have been seeing a lot of people abusing the tags again. It kind of fell off for a while, but not it seems to be pretty rampant again. Mostly in the Leo tribe where people are posting Splinterlands battles. I guess maybe because Splinterlands can be considered an investment, but it feels pretty paper thin to me.

I'm careful about using some of those specific tags. It is up to the tribes of they enforce them. I'm sure some people put every possible tag on each post to try and get something :)

It is not just about moving money around. Hive is people.

Well said.

What I learning these days is that the value that can be generated with Hive journey is worth far more than money.

I just wanted to try writing a bot and I could see a use for it. Doesn't actually need very much code thanks to the beem library.

as long as Hive stays ahead of the coin that shall not be named I consider it a major win by itself :)

Thanks for the shoutout @stevec and thanks for another great friday post! I usually learn something in your Doghouse section - not that I'm doing any of those things, it's more educational for me for what kind of behaviour to look out for as warning signs in others.

Keep up the great work!

I just try and find some stuff to write about each week. It can get harder to find something new. I have seen a lot of abuse over the years though.

Haha, yeah. I always check to make sure I'm not doing anything looked down upon!

I wish Fundition was still legit, a Hive-based alternative to Kickstarter would be great.

That dude following you up in every of your comment with an empty downvote needs some pizza, I guess🤔 you should get one for him.

Anyways, thanks for the follow up Friday update.

It's funny that he sometimes gives me an upvote. I guess he's trying to boost his HP, but it won't be much. He has zero real effect on me. Just someone who got pissed off with Hive. I may have made some enemies along the way, but don't think I ever dealt with him.

He has zero real effect on me.

Haha😄

Just someone who got pissed off with Hive.

He has once spreed downvotes on my post for like two day. I know it has no effect but it really pizzed me off seeing unnecessary doenvotes on each of my comments.

I pretty much ignore him. Nothing we can do about it. Just be thankful there are not lots more people doing the same thing. Not actually that hard to set up loads of bot accounts.
