Hivians are a creative bunch and we try to embrace creativity in all forms here at Hivelist. You may or may not know that we have a retail store where creators just like you can come and sell your products on our online platform, similar to Amazon, Etsy, and eBay.
We have a print on demand service that gives visual artists a way to put their creations on items like clothing, coffee mugs, stickers, home goods, wall art, and many different accessories. This is great for those with visual artistry talent, or communities and businesses that need a way to sell logo merchandise.
Store vendors can also create eBooks and upload their PDFs and ePUB files directly to their store and create a product and sell their eBook to their audience. But we are about to take this a HUGE step further!
HiveLIST Print on Demand Books
Thanks to the direction of one of our newest store vendors, @selfhelp4trolls, we have found an awesome printer that we can use to integrate into our store, allowing authors to now sell physical paperback and hardcover books! And we ARE NOT USING AMAZON!!! LOL. Actually the company is called LuLu and they have some really great tools for us to be able to process orders directly through their systems!
We are still working out the details on how we are going to implement this into our store for our vendors, but we are assuming it will be very similar to the print on demand process where there will be a form to fill out with the information needed for us to create your book as well as an upload form to upload your PDF file.
There will be templates available for authors to follow to get the proper formatting and sizing for not only your eBooks, but for use in printed versions.
At first we will only be offering a limited number of options. The supplier has many different options, but we are going to keep it simple to start. Again, we are still planning all of this out.
Ordering Process
Once we get the information and file from the vendor, we then set it up for publishing and the product is automatically added to the vendor's store on the Hivelist Store. Once a customer orders the book, the order is sent to the printer, printed and shipped directly to the customer!
Bulk Ordering
We will also have a bulk ordering feature for those that want to order 100-500 copies of their books and shipped to them. This way, they can handle all the sales and shipping themselves, as well as distribute in their local areas! Again, we are still working out all the detail so more information will be coming soon!
Global Distribution
That's right! With this new platform, we will be able to get your book out across many other channels like Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes and Noble, LuLu, and more!
This works similarly to the way a music aggregator works in that we will be the middleman and distribute royalties from sales on the other networks as we are paid. We also handle all fiat conversions and pay out our vendors only in HBD, keeping you all in crypto!
Exciting Times Ahead For Hive Authors
Other than posting, until now, Hive authors haven't had a great outlet for their work. There is NFTs for art and music, but nothing great for authors. And writing is the CORE of Hive.
We are excited to be able to bring this offering to our store vendors and our community!

Lulu is a great alternative and it is good to avoid Amazon.
Integrating that into Hivelist is a sensational way to allow people to purchase books using HBD.

People can already purchase ebooks. We have a license to resell a ton of different books, which is what is on there now for the most part aside from a few user created ones. We are wanting to encourage more Hive authors.
There are even picture book and comic book options available, which is really cool as well. Just working out the initial offer stuff.

I have a few coloring books I have designed that need a blockchain home.
I was going to upload them to amazon, but why do thst if the HiveStore is ready for them.
When do you see this rolling out? Will you be providing the ISBN's or do we need to purchase those?
From the looks of things, the distribution company handles all of that. Again, all of the details are still being worked out. Looking at possibly August.
I'm just glad to see actual commerce being developed here, aside from just "make money trading tokens!"
It's a great use case... I might get involved with selling my (physical) artwork.

For sure. Although we can't beat Amazon's prices, we can at least be the crypto answer, lol.
Its a great idea. Cut out the centralised behemoth! Ebay was great back in the day when it was more about its users and communities. They soon got sold out though by the ebay management and big business.

I recently created a community called HiveBusinessCenter, the purpose of which is mainly to create a continuously updated list of Businesses on Hive, basically a Hive Business Directory to advertise Businesses on Hive and provide a place for people to find links and information.
Your company is on the list, and I just wrote a short blog post summarizing it. You can rerad it Here.
The list features business name, links to the businesses and a link to a brief blog post on the HiveBusinessCenter community blog describing the company in more detail.
