DIVIDED HOME: WHEN LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH.

The small kitchen was filled with tension. John's wife never seemed to understand him. Their voices raised at each other.

"What do you mean there's no money? I just gave you my entire money." His face red with frustration. "I am just a cleaner. For God sake, can you bear with me?"

Maria's voice was firm. She opened the paper on her hand, holding a pen on her right side, trying to show him the list of things needed to be put in place. "I just told you. What you have isn't enough! We have bills to pay. Our children need good food and not just a cheap bread."

John eyes narrowed. "What about the groceries you bought last week? You need to cut back on unnecessary spending."

Maria looked at him sarcastically. "And so, what about the cigarettes and beer you take every weekend? Are they not part of unnecessary spending?" Her hands were on her hips.

"That's not the point. The point is, you need to help!" His face darkened.

Maria moved closer to him, her voice rising. "I take care of the home and the children. I cook and watch after everything. And this is what you can say? I'm not helping?"

John's frustration risened. "I work hard to provide for the family and this is all I get? This is the 'thank you' I get? Very beautiful of you!" He banged on the table.

Maria was silent. She placed his food on the table, while she started to murmur about the bills they had to pay.

John lost his appetite. He wanted to walk away from the kitchen. He wanted to run away from his ever nagging wife. But somehow, he wanted to make things right but if only his wife could exercise more patience with him.

The kitchen was now cold and it felt empty, reflecting the couple's shattered relationship.

WHAT I SEE: I see a man and his wife engaged in a conversation. They both look troubled. The man's hand is to his forehead staring at the food placed before him. His wife is holding a paper and pen. The house is made of wood and the window shows that it's snowy.

WHAT I FEEL: I feel a sense of sadness between the couples. The man is thinking of a solution to make the home peaceful and in order.

I hope they get to resolve their issues. If not those faces will look sad for a long time. Nice story.

Hello @ministeringpen23. You provide a real life narrative of a relationship. All too often, one partner is ready to blame the other when an issue arises. Both the wife and husband raised valid concerns. However, a resolution must be reached on a budget and what is considered necessary and unnecessary expenditures. Beer and cigarettes certain fall into the "unnecessary" category.

Until the husband admits this, there will be no reconciliation and they will be at an impasse. Perhaps if they could just create a list of items, then go through the list together, he will see areas where he can cut back. Asking someone to give up smoking is a hard press. Perhaps cut back would work. I do know that nagging each other won't solve the problem.

Thanks for sharing this story. Nicely done.

This is wonderfully written dear and seems to be relatable. A spendthrift husband who has squandered the family's resources. I hope that they can reconcile and come to work together to solve the family's issues. Once again, wonderfully written.🌺

Kitchen has become a place for hot discussion. I feel sad for both the husband and wife who needs to run the family much more better, as they are running short of money. Nice story

Both fear and are unable to talk. If bills pile up money rules and is good for 24/7 fights. Love isn't all we need.

Yeah. We also need understanding and contribution from both parties to make the home happy.
