Specifically the info I needed was on why having it done is such a crucial part of your culture.
When I was growing up we had a friend who died from sickle cell anemia so I'm familiar with the condition, but was not aware of how pernicious it was in some peoples.
It's not actually tag to culture. It's more of a precaution from bearing children with the "sickle cell" disease. It's more medically inclined than cultural consideration
