EXODE details Contracts and announces new Contract features!
Yesterday was a Saturday and Saturday is "player value day"; the value here is the one of your collections!
Player value comes from utility, content, access to distribution (liquidity) but mostly how a developer fiercely defends the value of a player collection.
Today, we are announcing a new upcoming contract feature!
and also giving details about some of your beta contracts!
New immersive content
We have published EXODE Factions M1 version earlier in June, and are working on the next gameplay implementation, called M2. Another article is coming up about it!
But today we wanted to speak about cards, and contracts.
EXODE is made of immersive content and gameplay.
We have a large number of very thematic factions across our hundreds of card.
And we are going to expand them with even more!
New beta contracts are going to expand the card collection with an impressive lot of cards.
For Starbase Shop for instance, we are looking at 72 new cards for now (36 normal and 36 elite)!
Let's be to be honest with you all: much of this volume comes from something specific to this contract as we are testing a new mechanic with it. The same mechanic, if it's found successful to players, will be extended to other contracts.
Right now other contracts will begin with less cards, and a volume sometimes comparable to alpha, but sometimes have some more. They may also have rotating collections and receive the same features as the ones described below.
Games scenes are our top priority at the moment.
We have a group of articles to release about EXODE Factions - our latest gameplay.
But players have a collection of contracts and cards, all connected to the vibrant world of 2325, all going to receive nice utility with Factions... but some of which cannot be opened yet!
This is because players are awaiting a very important moment - contract opening, but also booster opening.
So we have many things to do!
But first of all: Contracts.
Players have been suggesting a feature recently, and the good news is:
that we are going to make it!
Upcoming utility coming to Contracts
Upcoming utility to contracts comes in part from EXODE Factions - owning contracts will give access to superior missions and rewards there.
Contracts in EXODE Factions give access to new mission areas and features. Owning one of them is usually enough to unlock a mission area or feature. But owning more "makes it stronger".
For every contract of the same type you own, you will unlock a +1 star in EXODE Factions in that mission area. This can become your main daily way to gain rewards!
Some other areas of Factions are unlocked thanks to your contract drops ; in that case players can be interested in your drops too thanks to EXODE Factions, giving more value to your cards.
Such is the case of Syndicate areas where holding more Syndicate cards can give you access to missions and better rewards.
This piles up with another feature about "duplicate cards" which gives a lot of value to cards duplicates (we are going to release an article about this!), as it empowers your Agent number of stars, and another about card leveling, which will eventually add an interest to burn card duplicates too.
Upcoming new features coming to Contracts
We are working on the following feature:
If you own a contract since a long time, you will be able to customize your contract and influence its drop table.
We plan for players to receive a "customization token" for every set period of time, ie 6 months, where they have held a given contract, and to be able to use this customization token to reduce or remove the drop chances of a given card, or to increase the one of another.
You won't be able to go back on your decision wihout another customization token, which you will gain after holding the card a further set of time.
In addition, if you sell a contract, the buyer will receive the contract "reset" to its default status, and will gain new customization tokens for himself like normal after he holds it a certain time.
This means you do not sell your customization token when you sell the contract. But on the other hand, this also means that your customized contract does not lose liquidity options, as any buyer can estimate its value with ease and can customize it to his liking after some time.
Developing this features requires us to work on several presentations to also introduce card drop chances to players. We are going to release it possibly at the same time as Contract Opening, but after Factions gameplay.
Other features
Another idea was also suggested by @nockzonk :
that players could turn off the weekly drops of contracts, and gain something else, such as EXOFUEL.
We can understand following and getting weekly drops can be quite bothersome over time. And that increasing scarcity of cards is going to be important! (more about that in our upcoming Factions article!).
We do not want players to mint a currency directly and create a selling pressure on it before it gains plenty of utility routes, as we are also defenders of the currency value, but are coming with something else which will be quite useful too to increase card scarcity and give separate income methods for contract owners.
What we will do is connect the gain to specific faction currency useful to EXODE Factions.
So you will be able to replace card drops with other gains.
But this is just the beginning because once EXODE is distributed, considered the number of contract owners will be extremely low compared to the population of players, we may allow further extractions of currencies thanks to contracts, and why not directly tradable currencies.
We will do so however only once we feel that the time is right for it and that distribution and number of accounts make this nice bonus something solid.
Contracts will really become a great way to extract value in EXODE!
And contract opening!
Beta contracts are still available from shop - we sold another today right before writing!
But they can't be opened yet and we really want to address that.
After our next gameplay update - called Factions M2 - the next item is Contract opening.
